If you're talking from the films only, then its
TIE Fighter (white hull)
TIE/In Fighter (grey hull)
TIE Interceptor
TIE Advanced X1
TIE Bomber
X-Wing
Y-Wing
A-Wing
B-Wing
TIE Fighter:
Speed 100 MGLT (sorry- no kps or mps, but MGLT is a joint speed/maneuverability rating- and is used in ROTJ production art, so it's EXTREMELY authorative): 100 is the average http://www.theforce.net/swtc/Pix/books/art/ilmmglt1.jpg
Firepower: twin laser cannons
Shield rating: no shields,
TIE/In: slightly better performance than the standard, according to WEG, but no MGLT rating: WEG gives the standard an 8 rating, while the TIE/In gets a 10.
Otherwise the same.
TIE Interceptor: 125 MGLT
Firepower: 4 laser cannons on older production models, 10 laser cannons on models that fought at Battle of Endor (if you want to argue this, go to the TIE X1 thread- don't pollute this guys thread)
Shield rating: no shields
TIE Bomber: 80 MGLT
Firepower: 2 laser cannons;
forward ordinance bay:
2 concussion missile launchers (SFS M-s3) with 4 missiles each;
2 proton torpedo launchers (SFS T-s5) with 2 missiles each.
main ordinance bay:
8 concussion missiles;
4 proton torpedoes;
8 proton bombs;
6 orbital mines; or
64 thermal detonators.
Shields: no shields
TIE Advanced X1: ? MGLT, but almost certainly more than 100, as it has four ion engines.
firepower: 2 laser cannons
shields: unknown rating, but the craft is shielded
X-Wing:
100 MGLT
4x laser cannons
2x proton torpedo launchers, 6 torpedoes max load
Shielded
Y-Wing:
100 MGLT
2x laser cannons
2x ion cannons
2x proton torpedo launchers, 8 torpedoes max load (IIRC)
Shielded
A-Wing:
150 MGLT
2x laser cannons
2x concussion missile launchers, 12 missiles max load (IIRC)
Shielded
B-Wing
75 MGLT
3x laser cannons
3x ion cannons
2x proton torpedo launchers, unsure how many missiles max load (haven't fired up the X-Wing games in a while)

Actual acceleration ratings are on hold until I am bored enough to do conversion from the Episode II ICS to WEG/WOTC figures. Please hold until then.
(The probably minimum for fighters would be 4500-5000G's of acceleration straightline.)

btw.: does any of you have the X-Wing schematics? I left my 1st edition RPG players book unattended once some years ago, and guess what: my short them memory is shorter then that
So assuming that the wing tubes are all cannon without any volume given over to other stuff, then I estimate the cannon to have a volume of 175-200 liters; whereas the TIE Fighter/Intercepter & Y-Wing top guns all seem to be of a like shape and have a volume of 8-10 liters.
This would lead me to guess at the X-Wing cannon being 20 times as powerfull as the 'standard' fighter cannon, i.e. to use a WWII comparison the guns of the X-Wing is kind of like a 20mm autocannon compared to the TIE 7.62mm machineguns: If the TIE guns are 1 kton range then the X-Wing guns may well be 20 kton range.
(SMALL WONDER TIEs blow up on a single hit then!
)
This would make the X-W a ground attack fighter, specializing in strafing, but multi-role capable with a limited torpedo magazine for bombing & the ability to perform dogfighting against cheaper dedicated dogfighters (like TIE fighters).
The Y-W would then be a fighter-bomber: twice the missile load and normal sized cannon for dogfighting.
The TIE fighter would be a dedicated space superiority fighter, specialized for dogfighting and thus cheaper as it only has one role to fulfill.
This would make sense from the situation in ANH:
Rebels attack a ground target (the duct) using a mix of:
Ground attack fighters & fighter-bombers
The Imperials defend the target (DS1, later the duct) using a mix of:
Ground based AAA (largely ineffective) & space superiority fighters (very effective: 30 attacking fighters reduced to 3)
The shields on the X/Y-Wings are not sufficient to significantly increase survivability against TIEs (ANH), so are likely there to protect against groundfire such as anti-air E-Web variants etc. (that is also likely why TIEs may have no/only particle/vestigal shields: against fighters they are a waste, and TIEs primarily target fighters)
please note also that the TIEs do NOT rely on 'swarm' tactics against the rebel fighters, at no time (until Luke vs Vader + wingmen anyway) do the TIEs significantly outnumber the rebel craft, and they still wittle them down quite effectively!
