Lando in the alpha quadrant

One thing I've always wondered about the crossover debate is why no one on the ST side doesn't just say, sure fine the imps are heavy hitters and all, but let's just go look up the nearest smuggler or capitalist outside the bounds of government and *buy* our way up to imperial level. Sure you might not quite Heavy turbolasers ... but you could oh say buy some hyperdrives, the technical knowhow to make them yourself, etc. Who knows maybe even a planetary sheild.

Now the feddies I can understand. Their economy sounds so assbackwards they might never think, gee we are getting our asses handed to us ... let's go *buy* some technology so we aren't being killed like bugs on a BMW windsheild.

But one would think the Cardies, the Romulans, the Ferengi would think to go buy technology wholesale. If you don't have any natural resources to export there is always territory and slaves.

So let's say instead of an ISD showing up and pounding the heck out of the Alpha quadrant ... let's let oh say Lando find the wormhole. So here are the questions:
1. How much of the alpha quadrant does Lando end up owning?
2. What happens to the balance of power in the alpha quadrant as a result of Lando's capitalistic ventures?
3. How would this effect relations with the empire once it gets wind of Lando's operation?

Not much in case you forgot Lando was the one for crazy short term operations which make alot of money, and loose alot of money leaving him generaly at square one each time.

Now Karrade on the other hand....

I stopped reading EU after Correllia or something. It just got too bad in terms of writing, plot, and cotinuity. It seemed like you had yet another superweapon of the week that for some unknown reason can utterly beat the crap out of the new republic which requires Luke, Han, Leia, et cetera to just barely blow the thing up before everyone dies.

So the only Lando schemes I recall were:
1. Bespin (seemed fairly permanent till Darth Vader decided to kill it).
2. The mobile base on that ridiciously hot planet (which I thought he had enough money left over to go buy Kessel).
3. Kessel.

But whatever, some capitalist none to friendly with the government.

1. Bespin, He got Bespin back he lost it at the Card-Tables, He also won it there
2. He still had the mining rights to that planet
He also lost those at the Table
3. Still has Kessel as far as I know

(Maybe he gotten into a rich enough card game)

He lost it, Won it, and then Lost it agian in Card Games with Solo(Third time he gave it to him at the end so tecnialy he uhh did nothing)

Lando likes exploiting exotic technologies to gain exotic resources. The Alpha Quadrant has neither of these, by SW standards, so not much happens. He MIGHT like latinum, but that would depend on how valuable it is. Lando also appears to enjoy controlling only a few operations at once. He would not own much of the AQ.

Lando makes a shitload of money (or latinum

whatever ) and books out just in time to see the AQ get wasted by the Empire. He then and goes to live with the Ferengi until he gets homesick and returns to home galaxy. There he finds another get rich sceme that involves Han Leia Etc.
