Medical Alert!

Post by Romulan_nemesis »

This is a freaky scenario which makes no sense. Your an officer either IMP or FED. Doesn't matter. and the Medical Driod breaks down when you are injured. Which Doctor do you want to treat you.

McCoy
Crusher
Pulaski
Bashir
The Doctor
Phlox

Why would you want that particular physician to treat you?

He's in my opinion the best doctor in the entire series. he's inventive and can come up with novel solutions.

To answer my own question: Crusher. She's a Hell-of-a-doc! I mean she gets everyone in trouble, the ship at risk, and everything else including federation safety. And gets herself kidnapped just because she's like "Im sorry but Im a doctor, Im going to save this person, so get the !@#$ out of my way." With someone that determined, I think I would be in great hands.

McCoy, nothing like a good country doctor who will give it to you straight. No mumbo jumbo, no wishy washy advice.

So, heres where this ended up. Would you rather McCoy or a Medical Droid?

I know what McCoy would think..."Human wounds are to be treated with Human Hands, not a floating ball of nuts and bolts from an auto body shop. We're bodies, not cars in need of repair! And I'm a Doctor! Not a !@#$ing Mechanic, damnit!"

Maybe not that...expressive though.

McCoy.

He's a real doctor who relies on his medical knowledge rather than a blind faith in technology to solve everything. He also hates transporters. :D

Plus, having nurse Chapel around is an added bonus.

McCoy - fucking incompetent, doesn't even know how to perform CPR

Crusher - fucking incompetent, doesn't suspect airborne transmission until half the ship is infected

Pulaski - competent heart surgeon, scared of transporters. Definitely a choice.

Bashir - seems to be competent, genetically modified intelligence (but seems to have less respect for ordinary humans)

The Doctor - matter of fact and straightforward

Phlox - barely understands human physology.

I would choose the Holodoc or Pulaski, maybe Bashir.

Mmmm the Doctor knows every pages of the starfleet medical database since his an EMH mark 1. I prefer him (it, whatever) over Crusher, simply because I don't want to see Weasley around me when I'm recovering. 8)

Bashir. He's been genetically engineered, so he has to be good.

Of the others, McCoy seems to be a competent doctor, but Bashir seems better because of his enhancement and because he has superb hand-eye coordination.

Crusher is just terrible.

Phlox is a jerk, but I guess he would be okay.

The EMH program just isn't up to snuff, although he would be my second choice, and Pulaski makes me want to kill people. I love Dr. Zoidberg, even though he "lost" his medical degree. I also liked how he had forgotten if disemboweling people in Fry's species was fatal or non-fatal. And I liked how Fry beat him up using his own severed arm. Still, though, I would go with Bashir.

I'd choose McCoy. Why? He doesn't give a rat's ass about the Prime Directive. He'll push whatever pill is needed to not only heal, but also cure someone. Then of course, there's Nurse Chapel.

He's not going to sugar coat anything or 'hope' for the best. (Beverly is hot, and that does weigh heavily into the equation, but it's not enough.)
Dammit, Jim! I'm a doctor not a runway model!

Plus he'd be damned before he'd try some kind of homeopathic remedy on a patient. (I like Phlox as a character - but not as a doctor.)

I'd prefer The Doctor. Not only has he managed to keep Janeway and Co. from killing themselves over the course of seven years (something that McCoy wouldn't have been able to do), but he's also a fellow writer and artist. That, and I'm pretty sure I could convince him to slip me a flask of vodka during my recovery...

I'll throw my hat in for the good doctor Evazan. Of course he'd be a natural choice as a plastic surgeon.

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

McCoy. A doctor who doesn't have blind faith in technobabble.

Somebody was talking about CPR ... I'm curious what are the proper ratios for an 8 chambered heart with unknown lung capacity? Also how deep should compressions go given that the strength of the rib cage is unknown? And lastly given that this is a an alien with relatively unknown physiology where should one place the hands so as to avoid popping the rib cage and driving ribs into vital organs?

The doctor from voyager is my second bet because he also remembers good old fashioned medicine and doesn't relay on half assed technology to pull his arse out of the fire every bloody time.

Dr. McCoy didn't have the medical knowledge he needed for Klingon Anatomy. The Klingons, instead of an after death examination, dispose of thir dead bodies in any way possible. They subconsciously thnk, the more jucier and gorier the death in battle, the more honorable. Aside from the fact that Klingons have 2 hearts. And at that time, the Klingons and the Federation didn't have an interspiecies medical exchange in process.....

Sry didn't read above disregard the Klingon thingy :(
And Whatcha mean McCoy can't do CPR? ONE..TWO THREE...ONE TWO THREE BREATH!!!...

Even then that klingon had internal bleeding and died of it...CPR was useless there as we've seen. :!:

Cyaround,
Jason
P.S.- Can ya mods put back the edit button this is getting annoying. thx.

I wouldn't choose any of them, they're all played by actors. Oh yeah, this is suspension of disbelief, sorry.

I definately wouldn't want to have HoloDoctor. What if some idiot decided to download and install Real Player on the ship's main computer. Everything would go to shit, including the guy/program who's suppost to sow you back up.

Say what you want, I'll take Bacta any day.
