I've noticed that there are a helluva lot more women around here than there used to be.


In my day we made do with ONE woman, and we worshiped her as a god.


Well anyway, did all these new people pop up because of ROTS? Or is it simply the fact that the teenage population of the board has quit acting like a bunch of wankers and scaring them off?

Both and neither. We have a variety of posters who still act up, we laebl them the Angry Young Virgin Brigade. Intially a joke by one poster...has now become a sad reality.

As for the women...most have just migrated from different zones. Two are wives, and a few are just people who just happen upon here.

And heck two of the mods are married to each other.

It's probably just that the board is growing, and since this is still largely a male board, the new women are noticed more than the new men.

I like having more females around though, especially since all of them are awesome.

I was thinking it was one of the results of the board's focus going away from sci-fi and toward general issues (and thus, topics women would find more interest in), but then I figured that to most casual observers who've seen the place for the first time, we're no less sci-fi-oriented than we were 35 months ago, and the usual rate at which female members find this place and sign up was just complimented by people on the forum reccomending it to women they know.

I think that that's one of the more disturbing images put into my head; a woman walking around with a metaphysical penis... it's there, but, it's not.
