Is Lex Luthor a Meteor Freak?

Post by Stravo »

I always suspected that it would be revealed sometime in the series that Lex was a meteor freak - you know he was at ground zero of the meteor strike - he lost his hair, etc. I assumed when it would be revealed that he had super intelligence like his Silver Age persona that it would be attributed to the rocks. But it looks like they're going the Byrne Lex Luthor route and just making him a paranoid, hyper aware rich man.

But in the Season 3 episode "Extinction" (The one where the kid is hunting meteor frwaks and shoots Clark with a Kryptonite bullet) it is theorized by Chloe that Lex is a meteor freak and his ability seems to be tied in with a survival instinct. He survived the meteor strike, the plane crash that left him stranded on the island, the porsche crash in the first episode and a sundry other near death experiences. His White blood cell count is astronomically high.

Now I've only gotten up to the first few episodes in Season 3 so I don't know if they've done more with this but assuming that perhaps this is true (Lex notes in the episode that he has never been sick since the meteor shower) does this explain Lex's future escapes freom near certain death at Clark's hands? Is he a meteor freak?

If I remember the episode correctly, it was shown that Lex really was a Meteor Freak, the Meteor Impact gave him a hyper immune system, which somehow saved his ass and let him never be sick since the "incident"

Though I haven't even seen 90% of the last season because of work, so I'm not certain if they ever confirmed it (and it's been awhile since I saw "Extinction" )

They left it dangling, but its generally considered that "He is until we know he isn't."

When he was poisoned in a season finale, he should've been killed. Yet he survived. Yeah, I'd say he's a meteor freak. Hyper-immunity, if nothing else. At one point he was starting to believe he's more like invincible, but that's because he thought he got himself out of the car wreck.
