How often do you use the public libraries?

Post by Guardsman Bass »

I usually go about 3 times a week, but I'm an anomaly. I've found that my library system has access to quite a large amount of movies and music, which I can burn. Plus, of course, I like to read.

Very rarely now that I have a regular job, mortgage, etc. I don't seem to have the time anymore. If I want a book it is just easier to swing by Borders on the way home and pay for it. Although, I was thinking of going to the library this week to look up some financial magazines I'd rather not subscribe too.

I still owe the library a good chunk of money from a few years ago, so I haven't been in awhile.

Quite infrequently.

But then I like to own books, and have several hundred lying around.

I only use libraries for researching things, once the Internet has failed (or been found suspect).

I'm still waiting for the waiting list for the OT DVDs to clear up. Although I must admit I haven't checked that list for a month or so now............

Being that in DC the library is either a hangout for the local gang or does not have anything good, or both I never go to the library

I go to the uni library every time I get unbanned.

I tend to borrow too many books and then forget to return them until after they're due. I'm so naughty. I should be spanked.

I don't use the public libraries, as I'm not in a situation where I have to borrow books from it.

I usually go every week and play chess in the library and I'll check out a few books when I go.

*spanks* :D

I went maybe a max total of ten this year.

I too keep forgetting to return books and always have to pay that damn fine which is what keeps me away from the library. And now that the public library here use reciepts, I have to worry about keeping that piece of paper safe and that's if I bother to look it anyway.
I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

Whenever i run out of reading material at home, so that's usually about every two to three weeks.
I'd go more often, but I used to work in a library when I was poor starving student...I could go a few more years without seeing the inside of one too often.

I go there relatively often, at least once or twice a week. My library's got a lot of great cd's, so that's useful. I've got a shitload of fines accumulated on my card though, still haven't payed those off.

I went a lot when growing up but then the library was only a few blocks away from my house, had air conditioning, and plenty of things for me to read that I didn't have to pay for.

Now I live in a different city. I tend to purchase a lot more books and have less time to read them than I did when I used the library a lot. Plus, I don't particularly care for the Tucson (Pima County) library and it's sattlelites all that much. Really, this city is too packed with cheap old bastards and that tends to make the libraries really crowded.

I repeat what Howedar said, though I do go to the university library pretty frequently. Business, not pleasure. :(

I stopped going to my local library a year ago. For a start 90% of their selection is hard back, while hard backs are nice it's hard to slip one in your pocket when you're going for a read and write. Second the selection is shite. How many fucking Mills and Boon books does one library need? They're all the fucking same yet they dominate most of the place. In short i decided that it was less hastle to go to Waterstones, the waiting for ordered books is shorter.

Not too often, but my mom does every so often and she ever so thoughtfully decides to pick up a book I might be interested in.

I used to visit about every three weeks (the lending period), but in the last four or so years I've made trips only very sparingly, a few times a year at most. Part of it is the Internet, but a lot if simply the fact that I've already read all the books on subjects that interest me and I never feel like going to a different library, despite several being within a few miles.

visit my local uni's library frequently, though mainly to take advantage of their free highspeed broadband service. i've managed to leach several gigs of material thanks to that. :teeth:
