Bullshit legend.
Sorry, I know masters who can easily kill with their hand, but do they need some permit?
No, sorta hard to go "Yeah I can kill with my hards...but there are somethings you have to be doing for me to get the right angle). I mean do we have permits for having knives?

Please. You can do worse with a 2x4 in two seconds than you can do with your hands in two minutes. Shall we have to make you get a license when you want to refurbish your fence, for purchasing deadly weapons? *scoffs*
As for the hands thing, pfft. Sure, you can do a lot with them when you're properly trained, but one thing ANY experienced fighter-- and anybody with an ounce of logic-- will say, is that having a weapon, be it a branch snapped off of a tree or a gun, is infinitely better than bare-handed. Rather shows why there's not much need to register hands, eh?

Complete myth. It's just something wannabe toughguys say to impress people, and soon thereafter they get pounded into the ground and curb stomped.

Knife fears could prompt new law
Public fears over young people carrying knives in school and on the street could prompt new government restrictions, the Home Office says.
Home Secretary David Blunkett and Education Secretary Charles Clarke are considering moves to combat the proliferation of knives.
They include raising the age at which teenagers can buy a knife to 18 and introducing searches in schools.
The age limit would bring knives into line with fireworks and alcohol.
Police searches
The Home Office said there were 272 homicides involving a sharp instrument in 2002/3 out of a total of 1,007 - up 4% on 2001/2.
In November 2003, 14-year-old Luke Walmsley was stabbed to death at the Birkbeck School in North Somercotes, Lincolnshire, by a fellow student.
The government is working with the police to find out the extent of knife crime and strengthen the law.
Mr Blunkett said there was a "strong argument" for having to be 18 to buy a knife.
The education secretary is looking at giving head teachers new powers to search pupils, rather than waiting for police to do so.
He is also considering setting up agreements between heads and police to let them request unannounced police searches in schools to detect and deter knives.

The city of Boston in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts requires a permit for carrying a blade longer than four inches in length, and forbids the public posession of any blade longer than 18 inches.Ghost Rider wrote:I mean do we have permits for having knives?

That sounds almost stupidly arbitrary.Lord Poe wrote:This isn't exactly myth. A cop that used to come into a store I worked at told me that if someone confronts him in a boxing or martial arts pose, he is considered to be faced with lethal force, and is allowed to shoot them.
"This shooting is questionable. He didn't have a weapon or anything."
"But sir! He put his left leg back and his fists up! He was clearly a deadly ninja!"
"Oh well that makes it okay then."

"Oh sure, it happens. People with enough hand-to-hand combat training need to register their hands as lethal weapons. If we catch them and they failed to do so, we encase their fists in concrete to prevent them from hurting people."

Kind of reminds me of George Carlin's bit on airport security.
"Hell, you could probably beat a guy to death with the Sunday New York Times! Or what if a guy just has really big hands? Couldn't you strangle a flight attendant? Hell, you could probably get two, one with each hand."
