Fruits
What are your favorites and how often do you eat fruits? Which fruits do you dislike?
I eat 3 to 5 servings of fruits a day. When cherries are in season, I can usually be seen carrying a bag of cherries around with me as I'll be eating them all day. When they're not in season, I eat mostly oranges (at least 3 a day) and bananas, peaches, and strawberries are nice too. I dislike apples, and plums and pears sometimes give me the gag reflex. Pomegranite and pomegranite juice is kinda nasty, too.

I've been tempted to start a "Favorite Fruit" thread in the past, but haven't due to the wise-assed comments I've anticipated.
Anyhoo...
1) Peaches. A good, ripe peach where the juice runs down your arm, the kind that you practically drink rather than eat is #1 in my book. Their close relative the nectarine rates pretty damned high, too.
2) Pears. Again, the perfectly ripe pear that's soft and bursting with juice is heaven.
3) Strawberries. Raw, cooked, preserves, anything with strawberries is supoib. Warm stawberries on pancakes with whipped cream, orgasmically good.
4) A tart variety of apple. I steer clear of red and yelow delicious types, just not as good to me.
Grapes, oranges, and the rare treat of a good mango or papaya are all better than no fruit at all, too.
The only ones that I don't really care for are raspberries and bananas...but I'll eat 'em.

I usually put a load of sugar on my grapefruit for breakfast, takes away the sour to a good point for me
Oh god now I want grapefruit.
I love strawberries, granny smith apples, clemetines/tangerines.
I like bananas (very rarely will I eat them), blueberries, grapes.
I hate raspberries, the seeds just get to me. I like cherries.
Can't think of anymore fruits I like...
All this but I rarely eat fruit. I should really start eating more fruit. The only thing that's in the fridge right now is clemetines and apples. Haven't had any in about a month. Should eat them before they go bad, thanks for the reminder

Blueberries are by far my favorite. When they are in season i have been known to eat nothing but blueberries and coffee for breakfast. Strawberries are another favorite. I also like grapes, oranges, bananas, peaches plums and pineapple.

I'd eat more fruit if I could afford to buy it.

Me: Nope, that's why I have you around to tell me.

When I was young, we had a chestnut tree in our yard, various blackberry bushes growing wild, and access to two cherry trees and four apple trees in other neighboring yards. My uncle grew raspberries and strawberries in his garden, so we'd get those as well.Col. Lady Tevar, your last post reminded me of when I was a kid, we had a neighbour who grew Rhubarb... MMMMM Yummy rhubarb! We used to go there at least once every couple days to ask for some, we'd wash it and dip it in sugar... yum yum yum. Don't know if Rhubarb is a fruit or what but it was damn yummy.

Someone I know very well is terrified of peaches. Something about the skin freaks him out.Frank Hipper wrote:I've been tempted to start a "Favorite Fruit" thread in the past, but haven't due to the wise-assed comments I've anticipated.

favorites that i usually eat whenever the chance arises are pears, blackberries and blueberries. haven't tried pomegranates before due to them being somewhat difficult to get ahold of in the midwest, but they're definitely on my list of things to try.

The good:
1. Rasberries. There truly is no finer fruit. Red or gold, doesn't matter, but te flavor is to die for.
2. Peaches.
3. Bananas.
4. Strawberries (sometimes with a bit of cream).
5. Cantelope.
The Bad:
1. Honeydew--soggy and massively over-rated.
2. Craptastic apples. There can be good apples, but there are some utterly awful ones, too--I'd rather eat horribly sour oranges and such than bite into massively soggy apples.
3. Kiwis. Ugh.
The Ugly:
1. Pineapples--I wavered between putting this both on my best and worst list. I've had pineapples that would make you think they're ambrosia for mortals, and I've had these awful, wooden ones. Their appearance is so strange, though, that they have to be placed here.
2. Pomegranates--what the fuck are they? They make for decent eating, but what's up with their appearance? How can that possibly be beneficial for the plant?
3. Breadfruit--surprisingly good when it's cooked for long enough (and assuming you have a sharp and quick enough knife to prevent the plant's juices from infecting the innards), but the appearance of the skin makes you feel like you're cutting open lizard, and if you poke it with your finger then the texture won't reassure you too much.
Edit: Also, if you get the sap from the stem on your hands it makes for bad times.

Likes(actively enjoy eating): Bananas, Watermelon, Clementines, lemons and limes(last two many because I like sour).
Dislikes: Pineapple, coconut.
Everything else I might or might not eat, depends on the fruit.

Let's see - in no particular order I eat apples (Jonathans & Granny Smith especially), pears, honeydew, watermelon, bananas, starfruit/carambola, pricky pear catus, grapefruit, papaya, coconut, pineapple, pomegranates (mmm... pomegranates....), strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, lemons, peaches, and cherries. Especially those Ranier "golden" cherries.
Cranberries I take as juice. Sometimes with a little vodka added.
I sort of tolerate cantalope and mango. And apricots, but only if they're dried.
Used to eat orange and kiwi, but now they give me hives and rashes >sniff!< I miss kiwis!
I'm still looking for a source of paw-paws. You'd think I could buy them around here, I mean, they're native to this location and for Og's sake one of their nicknames is "Indiana banana" but noooooooo----!
