Eventually the discussion turned into a ridiculously off-balance debate against the fundie, with the rest of the class completely confounded by his stupidity. Here is a few conversations I've had since getting home a few minutes ago.

PsygnisFive: It started with the one kid, Bobby, saying to the fundie "Just because you dont like [gay marriage],
why does that mean it should be illegal?" and turned into a religious debate once the fundie said "because the bible says its wrong"

PsygnisFive: most of the time the class just gets irritated when we openly debate religion, but today made them all have a collective WTF

Usually they don't like people debating the validity of religion, but today you managed to get them to completely disagree with your stance.
