How much ST combat can a ST ship take?
Fact #1 : TMs are unacceptable sources, so we essentially have no idea how effective their weapons are against shields.
Fact #2 : Ships never slowly fire metered blasts at each other, keeping us up to date on target status.
Is there any way at all to get even a vague idea about how many torpedoes it takes to down a GCS shield (for instance)? Can anyone prove that Voyager has weaker shielding than Enterprise-E? Is there enough data to create a consistent result?
(This is mainly motivated by the old cliche where hero ships are never blow up and everyone else's do with one shot)
How many examples of direct, peer-to-peer combat with stated weapon effectiveness can everyone think of? Mostly in ST combat is with aliens of unknown power or lots of smaller ships... the only thing I can remember from TNG is that one salvo from a D'deridex knocked E-Ds shields to 30% (Tin Man).

Shields are regulary nocked down on Hero Ships
I can't remeber the Epsode but it was two Romulans VS the Enterpize and it was one Torp and two Phaser Blastes before they where at 20%

I take it back, ST II and VI are iffy because we don't know the yield of the photon torpedos used, although I suppose somebody with a physics degree could put something together with a little speculation but then again 100% of the calculations on sci-fi stuff are based on a least some speculation even the much worshipped turbolaser calculation.

The only part of the Turbo-Laser Cals that is speculation is the compsition of the Astroid
But the restis hard science, And the Astorid does not have much in the way of speculation to be had, We SEE the Rock, By its color, Strucutred and shape we can make a few smart guess, By how the Ties can into other rocks we can do it one better, By the fact they where shooting them at all we can make still more guesses
Finaly ending up with a well reasoned theroy and some calacutaltions
Not somthing we pulled out the arse now

Voyager=older scout ship
Enterprise=most advanced ship, flagship, battleship

Shields vary wildly in one episode the enterprises shields got damaged by 1 or 2 MT of plasma (not good example because it was weird situation - god like being yadda yadda).
Then Voyager takes a hit from a ship with 1/9 of 1E32 j (Yes it was galncing and yes rthe ship was charging but just take 1% energy transfer) and we still get hugely powerful shields.
What is the primary method of tl destruction - ie Heat transfer, KE or the weirdness of phasers or something else?
