Inspired by the official comment that the top predator on Pandora, the Thanator, could take a T-Rex.
Well, of course, it could--it acted like a Hollywood Predator, not a realistic one. So to make it fair, why not pit it against a Hollywood dinosaur or nine.
Base Assumptions: The Pandoran Wildlife and the Skull Island Wildlife do not find eachother toxic, and both can survive relatively unaided in eachothers environments due to Q. Food sources are equally distributed over the area of deposit, with deposited life forms gaining dominance closer to "Ground Zero." At your choosing, the 20% Gravity differential (Pandoran Gravity is 0.8 that of earth's) can come into play or it can not.
Scenario 1: Skull Island (1933 version) is transported into the middle of Pandora's jungle (and thus connected to land).
Scenario 2: Na'Vi are transported to Skull Island (1933 version).
Scenario 3: As Scenaraio 1, but with the Peter Jackson's wildlife.
Scenario 4: As Scenario 2, but with Peter Jackson's film.
For those unfamiliar with the Skull Island Fauna, here's some basics.
Skull Island v. 1933
1) Tyrannosaurus Rex - ~22-25ft tall, ~40-50ft long (6.7-7.6m tall, 12.2-15.2m long)
2) Stegosaurus - ~16ft (including plates), ~30ft long (4.8m tall, 9.2m long)
3) Apatosaurus - ~18ft at the shoulder, ~20ft long neck, toso ~35ft, total body length of ~90ft (5.5m tall at the shoulder, 6.1m neck, 10.7m torso, 27.4m total). Estimation of tail based on similar sauropods.
4) Pterranodon - much larger than normal, a ittle over 10ft tall with a 43ft wingspread (3m tall, 13.1m wingspread)
5) Plesiosaur/Primitve snake - Very serpent-like creature that attacks Kong in the caves. Seemed to be over 50ft long (15.2m )
6) 2-legged lizard - Appears to be almost 20ft long (6.1m)
7) Kong-Apes: Silverbacks grow to be 18ft tall when rearing up on hind legs. Range between 18 and 21ft tall (5.5m-6.4m tall)
8) Scavenging Pterrosaur - 5-7ft tall (1.5 to 2.1m)
9) Jungle Birds/Sea Birds - Generally unidentified and too far in the back to be given proper identification. Some are IDed as Archeopterix, but about a meter in length (3ft 3 inches)
Son of Kong:
1) Parrots
2) Styracosaurus - 12ft tall at the shoulder, 50ft long. (3.6m tall, 21.2m)
3) "Dragon" creature -
4) Macroplata: Dragon-like interpretation of a basal Pliosaur (Big Headed Plesiosaurs with shorter necks--this one had a long neck--it's primitve). Boxier head and lives AROUND skull Island.
5) Cave Bear (Ursus Specales) -- 13-15ft tall when reared up on hind legs. Behaves more like a psycho grissly than the more herbivorous mainlandcounterpart. (4m-4.6m)
From Cut Scenes:
1) Pig-Lizard (Cynognathus): ~6ft at the shoulder, 17ft long (1.8m, 5.2m)
2) Giant Spider: 8ft body, legs spread out for a diameter of 20ft (2.4m, 6.1m)
3) Giant Crab: Roughly same dimensions as Spider.
4) Smaller Giant Spider: Seen only as a model, also used in "The Black Scorpion". Perahps a 4ft body with an 8ft diameter of legs. Has a pair of pincers as front limbs.
5) "Squid Bug" (The Inch Worm of Doom from The Black Scorpion): 24ft long, maybe 3ft thick. (7.3m, 0.9m)
6) Triceratops (script indicates "Cut footage from "Creation") Roughly same dimensions as Styracosaurus, perhaps slightly larger.
7) Arsinotherium (Prehistoric "Dual Rhino" from "Creation") As above, perhaps slightly smaller.
8/9/10/11) Jaguar, Chimpanzee, slow loris, and stork subspecies (From "Creation")
Almost all of the prehistoric animals either ignored or were resistant to the firearms brought by the expiditions to Skull Island. The one kill of a large animal was done largely by shooting the damn thing in the eye (as was done in the "Creation" test footage). I'm not a firearms expert, but they were rather decent sized rifles from my reconing.
Other: Largely included to flesh out the ecosystem and as a result fo which models were still in use/intact at the time of filming.
1) Agathaumas: Frilled and armored, one-horned ceratopsian (Triceratops sized) (The Lost World). Slightly larger than the Triceratops.
2) Ape-Man: A short, strongly built, red-fur covered creature based around old misconceptions about Neandethals. Has some nasty canine's to boot. (The Lost World). Man-Sized.
3) Edmontosaurus (The Lost World). 18ft tall, 36ft long (From nose to tail). (5.4m tall, 11m long)
4) Allosaurus (The Lost World). Same Dimensions as Edmontosaurus.
Skull Island v. Peter Jackson
1) Venatosaurus saevidicus ("Furious Hunter-lizard"): 16-24 feet (5-7 m) long. These are the carnivorous dinosaurs that cause the Brontosaur stampede. They are a species of Dromeosaur.
2) Foetodon ferreus ("Cruel Stinking-tooth"): 15-20 feet (5-7 m) long. The carnivorous reptiles that attempted to kill Ann after she escaped from Kong, with one killed by a V-rex. Actually a variety of land crocodile.
3) Brontosaurus baxteri ("Baxter's Thunder-lizard"): 80-120 feet (24-36m) long. It is the largest creature on Skull Island. Descended from Apatosaurus, or similar sauropods. Apparently named from actor Bruce Baxter (The guy who knew when to run).
4) Ligocristus innocens ("Hoe-crest"): 26-34 feet (7-10 m) long. A hadrosaurid (dinosaur with a "duck-bill" shaped snout), possibly the dead carcass being eaten by the Foetodon that Ann encounters, or else in a deleted scene. The name and description is found on the official website, implying that it's somewhere on film. Described as being the most common prey for Skull Island's predators. Seemed to have decended from Parasaurolophus.
5) Vastatosaurus rex ("Ravager-lizard king"): 40-60 feet (12-18 m) long. Very closely resembles its ancestor, Tyrannosaurus rex (T-rex), except that V-rex is far more massive (approximately 8 feet taller and up to 20 feet longer than the T-Rex), and has three fingers (instead of two), modified teeth, an armoured skull, and particularly large feet. Vastatosaurus is the biggest predator on Skull Island, and a common enemy of Megaprimatus kong.
6) Ferrucutus cerastes ("Horned Iron-hide"): 24-34 feel long. A ceratopsid dinosaur only seen for a brief moment in the movie. It is not included in the official website, but described in the tie-in book, The World of Kong.
7) Malamagnus vadun ("Big-mouth of Shallow water") 15-20ft long. Essentially, a giant reptilian Hippo. Featured in the game.
8) Pudgiodorsus squameus ("Scaley Dagger-back"): 4ft at the hip. Not featured in the film, but we need more prey species! It's a hypsolophodontid with an armored bck and two spines over its shoulders.
9) Hebeosaurus torvus ("Grim slug lizard"): 18ft long. Another non-feautred prey species. A slow nodosaur with a spikey ridge down its back and a heavily armored throat.
Invertebrates:
1) Carnictis: 7-13 feet (210-390 cm) long. The flesh-eating worms of the steamy pits.
2) Weta-Rex: 2-3 feet (61-90 cm) long. The carnivorous Weta's at the bottom of the pit.
3) Decarnocimex: 5-10 feet (150-300 cm) long. The boxy scavanger cricket/crab.
4) Arachno-Claw: 4-6 feet (120-180 cm) long. The Spider-Crab of the pit.
5) Deplector: 4-8 feet (12-24 cm) long. The Giant crab hiddeninside the wall (IE: the bigass claw that shoots out and grabs a guy).
6) Moonspider: 6-8 inches (15-20 cm) long. A ground spider that Anne almost bumps into.
7) Abyscidis: 1-2 feet (30-61 cm) long. A dog sized crab that also lives in the pit.
8) Cleocimex: ??? inches (??? cm) long. THe first insect we get a close up of in the swarm
9) Noxmuscus: ??? inches (??? cm) long. The second insect we get a close up of--before it's blown to bits.
Centipedes of the jungle floor and canopy (I'm still not sure witch is which)
Gyas gyas: 20-30 inches (50-75 cm) long.
Idolon illotus: 10-14 inches (25-30 cm) long.
Idolon venefaucus: 20-24 inches (50-60 cm) long.
Megapede dereponecis: 3-5 feet (90-150 cm) long.
Megapede horridus: 3-4 feet (90-120 cm) long.
Megapede humus: 26-40 inches (65-80 cm) long.
Omnimatercimex harpeforceps: 30-35 inches (75-82 cm) long.
Fish
Piranhadon titanus ("Titanic Piranha-tooth"): 20-50 feet long. In deleted scenes (which we can catch a glimps of in the trailer), and World of Kong book. It's, essentially, a crocodile-likefish with the head of a piranah and an eel-like body. Has lobed fins so it can haul itself onto land.
Birds
1) Carrion Storks: 3-5 feet high. In "World Of Kong" book, and seen in the sky in King Kong game.
2) Hylaeornis 4-5ft at the shoulder. Another "World of Kong" prey, a ground, agile running bird.
3) Herons (seen in the baground).
Mammals
1) Terapusmordax obscenus ("Filthy Pungent-bat"): 8-10 foot (160-300 cm) wingspan; bat-like flying rodent.
2) Sumatran Rat-Monkey (carniverous rodent/primate crossbreed): 3 feet (90 cm) long. Only mentioned, not actually seen. For shits and giggles, let it keep the zombifying bite in umans and Na'Vi.
3) Megaprimatus Kong ("Big-primate kong"): 18-25 feet tall; possibly evolved from Gigantopithicus. Tragically extinct by 1933 A.D.
4) Other, smaller flying bat-like Rodents.
For comparison, here's some basic data on the Pandoran Wildlife seen in the film.
1) Direhorse/Pa'li - 4.25m/14ft long, 4m/13ft tall. Can run 95kmh/59mph when startled, has antenae and efficient lungs.
2) Banshee - 12m/~40ft wingspan. Two varieties, Mountain is larger than the Jungle one by 2m/6ft
3) Great Leonopteryx/Toruk - 24.4m/80ft wingspread. The big red dragon thing.
4) Fanlizard - 45cm, 1m when unfurled and spinning. That crazy lizard that spins and displays as a defensive mechanism.
5) Hammerhead Titanothere/Angtsik - ~6m/20ft tall, 12m/39ft long. Heavily Armored. Able to run 50mph in native environment. Acute hearing and smell, but poor vision.
6) Thanotor/Palulukan - 2.5m/8ft tall, 5.5m/18ft long. Fun Fact: acute senses allow it to, on a clear day, apparenly detect prey 13 kilometers off.
7) Viperwolf/Nantang - 1.5m/5ft long, 70cm/2ft tall. Small, pack hunters.
8) Hexepede/Yerik - 2m/6ft all. The deer-like creature. Skitish
9) Stingerbat/Riti - Unknown size, likely 1m long, slightly larger wingspread.Has a small stinger and, while dumb and easily frightened, can swarm prey.
10) Na'Vi - Stone age people, 2.7-3.7m/9-12ft tall. Their blue coloration is meant to act as camoflauge amongst the bio-lumniescent flora of Pandora.
11) Prolemurus - 1.5m/5ft tall, blue monkeys.
12) Tetrapteron - 1.5m/5ft long. Blueish flamingo creature. Four-winged flier. Travel in large groups. Eats smaller animals.
There are other organisms mentioned in tie-in media (Hellwasps (Uber-wasps, 25cm), Arachnoid (Scorpion 18cm long), Medusa (A giant floating air jellyfish), Slinger (An odd 2.4m/8ft tall creature that throws its head as a stinger to kill prey, the slow moving body then works its way to the "Head" (actually a symbiotic offspring) to feed), Strumbeest (equivalent to an ox, used for clothes and tools by the Na'Vi, 4.5/15ft tall, 20ft long), Tapirus (Slow, stupid and "Small") among them.
I can only find a little data on them, and not all of it official.
There are also so-called "Planamals" among the Pandoran fauna, and carnivorous plants (resembling Christmas Tree Worms). I'll skip describing those in great detail.
So, which fauna wins out? Can the Na'Vi survive?
