Jesus what a shame! Those poor families that lost their loved ones who were only trying to HELP her.

this asshole should be tried, convicted and killed without delay.
You have to realize that most Christian "moral values" behaviour is not really about "protecting" anyone; it's about their desire to send a continual stream of messages of condemnation towards people whose existence offends them. - Darth Wong alias Mike Wong

Well, if they ever were lacking a reason to go after the bikie gangs in Australia again - this guy sure as shit just gave the police the public backing to do whatever the fuck they want. If he isn't killed by his own gang for bringing down a world of shit on them first...

A VIOLENT Hell's Angels biker remained at large last night after the cold-blooded murder of a solicitor who ran to the aid of a woman in Melbourne's CBD.

Police have been hunting Sydney-based Christopher Wayne Hudson, 29, since lawyer Brendan Keilar was shot dead on a crowded Melbourne street yesterday morning.

Two other people – one, a man aged 25 who is fighting for his life – were in intensive care last night after being shot when Hudson opened fire.

Hudson is well known to police in Queensland and NSW for alleged involvement in the illicit drug trade and is known to have access to firearms.

Detective Inspector Stephen Clark of the Victorian homicide squad said alerts had been put out in NSW and Queensland.

Mr Keilar, 43, had run to help Kara Douglas, 24, who he saw being dragged screaming from a taxi in Melbourne's King St nightclub strip at 8.05am.

He suffered a fatal wound to the chest as Hudson fired up to seven times.

Ms Douglas, 24, a former nightclub doorwoman, was in a serious but stable condition after having a kidney removed. She was expected to have more surgery today.

A discarded pistol believed to be the murder weapon was found with a jacket at a Flinders St worksite soon after.

Workers witness shooting

Witnesses said Hudson was as "cool as a cucumber" as he opened fire on Mr Keilar, Ms Douglas and the other man, then fled on foot.

For hours after the tragedy traffic was cut and fearful workers barricaded themselves in offices.

One witness said he watched from his sixth floor office window as Hudson opened fire.

"I heard a woman scream a couple of times," he said.

"I stood up and looked out the window and this guy had the woman by the ear, holding her down. She was screaming."

After firing a handgun, Hudson "just turned, casually put the gun away and walked down Flinders Lane", said the witness, who wished to remain anonymous.

Police said Hudson earlier bashed another woman, thought to be his girlfriend, in the Barcode club entrance.

Brave solicitor

43-year-old Brendan Keilar was hailed as a loyal and courageous man after losing his life in yesterday's shooting.

The father-of-three Brendan Keilar was on his way to work when he and another man tried to rescue Kara Douglas from an assailant.

Ms Douglas was screaming as Hudson dragged her by the hair from a taxi at the corner of William St and Flinders Lane.

Friends say it was a natural instinct for Mr Keilar, a lawyer, to put his own safety at risk.

Mr Keilar's family gathered at his Hawthorn East home last night to comfort his wife, Alice, son Charlie, 8, and daughters Phoebe, 6 and Lucy, 4.

Mr Keilar, who grew up in Warrnambool, was remembered by friends as a vibrant and dynamic man always ready to lend a hand.

He was a member of the University Blacks Football Club and did charity work, mostly through the Primary Club Australia, which raises funds through cricket.

Gun laws in spotlight

Prime Minister John Howard said he was willing to review handgun laws after yesterday's shootings.

"As to handguns, we certainly do have very strict laws but I'm always ready to talk to the state premiers who have control over these matters about whether they ought to be strengthened," he said.

There are about 200,000 licensed shooters and gun owners in Victoria.

Almost 40,000 guns were legally imported into Australia last financial year and customs officers seized 3857 illegally imported guns, gun parts and accessories.

Federal Justice Minister David Johnston said handgun laws were already tough but more could be done to tackle black market firearms.

"I know it is very, very, difficult for a law-abiding citizen to obtain a handgun," he said.

"(But) if someone wants to purchase a concealable weapon on the black market, they will probably be successful."

Police sources said illegal handguns were not difficult to get, and were common among outlaw groups such as bikie gangs and drug dealers.

National Coalition for Gun Control co-chair Samantha Lee said the shooting may have been avoided had all semi-automatic handguns been banned after the Monash shootings in 2002.

"Five years on from the Monash shootings, where a student shot dead two people and wounded five others, Victorians have had to confront another multiple shooting with a man brandishing a handgun," Ms Lee said.

Shock horror. The coward seeing a choice between being killed by the bikie gangs he has put in a really bad place and being arrested by the police has turned himself in.
