Ooh, big man you are to make fun of someone's typing skills.

Oh, big man you are to make fun of someone's CG from a distance, never saying a word the creator himself.

Vert, that nearly got you killed by me and Mayhem (6 years ago now... wow) at Spacebattles. Here, in the home of Wong, you'll killed, revived, then killed again!

Compared to the more used, worn out idiots such as yourself?

Well, each to his own I guess, but onto what I was going to say (that doesn't involve flaming you):

Mr Bean wrote:And thus my point the movies did not look good, infact they looked bad
At this point normaly I'll start egreation how bad they are using such fun words as *Craptastical or whatnot but they where not that bad
Just bad
Ok, that's fantastic. We're all so very, very happy for you. You don't like the movie. No one said you had to, they just said you had to dislike it for real reason (tehnical accuracy NOT being one of them).
Mr Bean wrote:Poor Music, Scalling changing from frame to frame, Less plot than the avarage MST3K movie and the randomness of it,
Ok, a few things here.

The Music: I can agree, I've never been a fan of Mile's music in his movies.

Scaling: Never really paid too much attention to it, but as I said before I'll take your word for it.

Plot: This is the hang up. The area of contention. You say it had a terrible/non-existant plot. I say the same thing. However you say that makes it a bad movie, I do not.

Why?

Simple - It was never meant to have an Oscar worthy plot. It was just ships and explosions and all sorts of things like that. Nothing deep.

If you want deep, that's fine, but don't criticise a film because you wanted to get something deep when it clearly was never intended to be so.
Mr Bean wrote:I keep repeating myself hoping maybe, Just Maybe this time you'll get the point
Do I hope in vain :?:
Do you wait in vain? Not really, no. However I hope that you'll understand my point.

The first thing you went after is technical inaccuracy. It was the first thing you shot at. That and the "wank fest" comment that got us angry. I'm a die-hard Warsie, come a VS debate I'll be right there beside you. But I'm a Spacebattler too, one of the First Ones. The guys who joined because we liked 3D animation and explosions and mindless fun.

VS Debates (unlike so many ASVS denizens seem to think) are not the main issue, or wasn't the main issue, at Spacebattles. It was the movies and ideas for the next movie and whatever.

As a result, the movies have nothing to do with technical debates, and for that I'm thankful. Sure, all Warsie's would love to see a single Carrack Cruiser rampaging through a Federation Task force, but it'd be boring in the end. Not entertaining (at least not after the first run through).

So, however many years ago, when Thelea from ASVS came in demanding a "disclaimer" and all SB movies to say that "this is not how it really is" we told her to, quire frankly, get fucked. We didn't care that they were accurate or weren't accurate, we just wanted minless fun and explosions.

So from that point forward, whenever we get someone (be they Warsie, Trekkie, 5'ver, Wingnut, Freespacer, 40Ker, WHATEVER) piping up going "Oh! How innacurate! It's just some ego-rubbing movie for the Warsies (or whatever)" we get annoyed.

We honestly don't care if you don't like the film (there are a few of Johan's, ie. The Creator of Spacebattles that I don't like), as long as your reasons for not liking them are valid and not "VS Debate" centred.

If someone hates the movie because a few Torpedos destroyed a Sharlin Cruiser, then that person is an idiot.

If someone hates the movie because when the Sharlin exploded, you could see the frames where the Sharlin was there and then it suddenly wasn't, then that's fine. That's VALID CRITICISM. It may not be constructive ("Hey I could see the Sharlin during the explosion! j00 suX0rs!" rather than "With the Sharlin you should try fading it during the explosion animation...") but it's valid.

Now retract the "Trekkie Wank Fest" comment and we'll continue.

Addendum...

May I just add that Black Lance posted it in a VS forum. That probably wasn't the best idea in the world, and it may have been the reason for some initial reactions.

But what's done is done, so, onwards...

A couple comments here:

The Naboo fighters can be (Barely) seen following the weird Defiant as it's going through warp space. You can also see several jump into Hyperspace as it goes to warp and they appear just as it does. I don't see any launching with the Defiant.

The Death Blossom is cool. I frankly thought it was absurd to see but also quite cool when the Defiant sprouted legs and suddenly fired two dozen beams. It would have been more impressive if all those beams were aimed but I can understand rendering problems.

Although I'm not perfectly familiar with B5 weaponry I'm under the impression that the Shadow Slicer Beam tech ignores shields or Armor when attacking, which makes a rather good explanation for why it was ripping into Wars forces so badly. Voyager seemed to require sustained bursts just to destroy vanilla TIE fighters and didn't do a thing to the ISDs so the tech problems really aren't as large as people are suggesting, all the Starfleet stuff was getting eaten alive, all the normal B5 stuff was too. Only the Exacalibur, which I recall from it's short show being made from Technomage stuff or something like that, and the Defiant Custom actually hurt anything besides TIEs.

I wish I could render that well. I do okay with my little 3D cartoon strip but it's not exactly animated. Maybe in a couple of years.

Ok, as much as I want to leave out "Technical Rationalization" for why things happen in fan made movies, I will address this from a tech standpoint.

Shadow Slicer beams are powerful, very powerful, but there isn't much in B5 that has shields (this is why Vree saucers, that rapid fire out anti-matter are so dangerous). They cut through things very easily, and we don't know how well they'd do against actual shielding as we know it.

Later on after reading all the other posts and getting the traditonal idiots out of the way

Ok fokes Back to those with acutal points

Now the first off I ask you if you want to defend tecnical accursay and yet at the same time say it does not matter, don't. Just say its a movie, I'm fine with that get over it whatever

HMBC if you want to however I can point out there is nothing non-vital after the Hanger, Besides Crew-Quarters and housing for the Troopers even if they did ignore Shields they would not make the ships go Bang like that(Three seconds of shooting then suddly half a KM to the left of the contact point the core goes critical for some reason)

HBMC, I've said it ovvvvvvvveeeeeeeeer and ooooooooooooooooveeeeeeeeeeer agian, That was just a side note, you keep bringing it up, I said fine, just forget it and you brought it back up, I repeated myself you brought it back up, GET OVER IT

Third I've already commented on how I don't need two thousand dollers worth of software and a collage degree on why somthings crap

Fourth why are you so intrested in my personal life? Or is that just another Ad-Homean attack trying to distrack from the fact the guy ask for my opionion I gave it end of story, Except you all SB's wanted to Comment on my opionion,

Why?

What is it about me so vitaly intresting that you can devoted eight pages to attacking my opionion?

Please I'd love an explination

Bean, rather than quote you to death. .

Look buddy, you call others idiots, yet lack the knowledge you need to qualify as better than they are. You know almost nothing about how these movies are made, and yet try to comment on them without even TRYING to make your critisism constructive. Personally, I feel that your level of intelligence is on the same level as some of the glorious subjects from Wong's hate mail page. You certainly give me that impression, and probably many others here feel the same way.[/list]

Yes? No I'm sorry Ad-Homean attacks and demands that that each post be run over by a peer-review Concile of English Majors then a rigurious three week independant review by the leading minds of our day and then Posted to this board
Sorry Bub I don't have that kind of time, If you can understand me, Thats good enough and beyond that get over it

If you acutal have anything useful to say please by all means speak up

Otherwise shut the hell up and let the adults speak, we don't need a Grammer Nazi around here correcting posts and not acutal adding anything

If you done calling me an idiot and not backing it up and done demanding that my Language and Grammer strucker be perfect could you acutal say somthing useful?

Or am I asking to much of the Great Master of the English Language here
