A Beautiful Blonde at the bar

Post by Sam Or I »

Who would get the chick? Kirk or Solo. I give Star Wars total Props for extremely powerful weapons and kick ass ships and technology. But seduction of alien women goes to Kirk all the way. Solo is good, but he is no "steve" like Kirk. Just my 2 cents.

Yeah, but you also have to remember that Solo is a freaking drug smuggler, murderer, and gangster. He does ok with the ladies, I'm sure, but I doubt they're the kind Kirk would be interested in.

Kirk, on the other hand, is a Captain (Admiral, depending on when this takes place) in the Starfleet...he's a college graduate, a minor celebrity, and has a nearly flawless record at being humanity's savior in all sorts of fucked-up situations.
Of course we know his history of one-night stands, but the chick in the bar doesn't. As far as she's concerned, Kirk is Mr. Right and Solo...well, she wouldn't even touch him. Though she might admit that he's pretty good looking, in a scoundrel sort of way.

And that's not such a bad thing for Solo, anyways. Who needs a dumb broad like that? He goes for the adventurous, street-savvy type (remember those girls in the books?). Just because he ended up marrying a classy chick doesn't mean that was his type when he was a swinger. As he said himself: "I don't know, do you think a Princess and a guy like me..."
And you may ask yourself, 'Where does that highway go to?'

Kirk wins. Just because it seems that in the typical TOS episode the captain as a new love in each new episode. That's pretty impressive for a Starfleet guy, isn't it?

Different style, different apeal, to different types of women. The Princess was atracted by macho, but her brains and ethics controled her actions. It was only when he started to show some grown up actions that she allowed herself to act on her feelings, and it was over the cliff time for her then. Remember, he was going to leave, and she was willing to let him! Only when he show some moral courage did things truly click for them. I think if he reverted to selfish prick mode she would leave him. He on the other hand, was changed by her!
See the movie,"As good as it gets" with Helen Hunt, and Jack N.
Quote of the movie, "You make me want to be a better man."
Kirk, would attract all kinds of women. Bad boy lovers, (I want a man just like Daddy, only this time I'll get it RIGHT), Hero worshipers, AND "Star fuckers". Not to mention just plain old normal women. He was a handsome macho dude any way.
Hmmmmmm.

"Never underestimate a woman's touch" Doris Day, aka Calamity Jane.
Look what Edith Keeler did to Kirk and what it took to break them up.

Question, Did Edith Keeler and the pain of loss "sour" Kirk on comitment?
Remember, he never did pork HER, and her principals made her all the more attractive to him.
For a time yes. He eventualy got over it enough to take a wife, though like many ships' Captains, his first love came first, causing the eventual breakup of the relationship.

Kirk seems never to have been hot on the 'commitment' thing. He abandoned Carol Marcus and his infant son (although that was partly at his own choice). He did commit to that android girl in 'Requiem for Methuslah' to the point that her 'death' nearly sent him into manic depression and Spock had to brain-blank him.

However 'Generations' indicates that he regrets that somewhat. Towards the end of the 'Nexus' hallucination section, Kirk decides that, if he could do it again, he would have turned his back on the fleet and stay with a woman he loved. Kirk had an oddly romantic soul in him, and I think, in the end, he never felt that his exciting life in the fleet had given him any lasting joy, only the satisfaction of a "fun" adventure or two. He wanted more out of life.

D'oh! :x

I hate not having an 'edit' button. Above, in my comments about Kirk and Carol Marcus, I meant that it was partly at her choice. Sorry about that.

For all the sperm donations Kirk made, his luck with women wasn't realy so hot. All the ones he seemed to realy care about died. With the excetion of the mother of his only child. (who's name escapes, me so I can't be that much of a fan) That breakup seemed to be two very strong willed, career minded people, unwilling to change, (give up their career) in the name of love. Both regretted it, just like in real life. One of the few realistic parts of ST.
Lesson to us all. Nobody ever looks back at their life, and regrets not putting in enough overtime on the job.
Hmmmmmm.
