Bah, why did all the whiners come out of the woodwork for JK2, complaining about "rancor jedi" (which aren't in the game) and all that?
The first time I even heard those whines was when I read that PA comic.
First off, Jedi Knight came out Oct. 97 and had protocol droid Jedi, but nobody complained then.
As anyone who's followed the EU for any length of time, or has seen AOTC, just about any species can be a Jedi. What's so crazy about a Stormtrooper with a lightsaber?
Not only did they exist in the early scripts out of George's own head, but we have the Imperial guard, who use the darkside and lightsabers (see Infinities.... otherwise they use 'lightsabre-like' weapons) and they are supposedly culled from the ranks of Stormtroopers!
Besides, what would stop a Jedi from putting on some trooper armor for a little added protection?
Frankly, I'm glad the guys at LucasArts and Raven don't feel tied down by fanboy purists when making these games.
JK2 was a great game. I missed the cheesy FMV cutscenes from JK1, and I was annoyed by some of the puzzles. Single player felt a little boring until you got the lightsaber and force, but multiplayer was incredibly fun when you played with people who weren't idiots (hey, every FPS game has them.... just look at counterstrike).

LEC also has anofficial page up at their site. If you want to know what Kyle Katarn has been doing since JK, read the new Essential Guide to Characters (just remember he DID kill Sariss!). He's a combat instructor for the Academy and had students of his own.
