You seem to miss the fact that the suit was changed as a result of the storytelling. Different characterizations of Superman lead to different suits. The cosmetic choices in a movie are made for thematic reasons, and Superman's suit is no different. So you trying to discuss cosmetics without discussing storytelling is just dumb.

I mean, the only popular Justice League stuff was the cartoon, and that reduced Superman's power to "float and punch pretty hard woah" so as not to make everyone instantly redundant
That's not really true, you just need to work things that don't just challenge his strength. Superman's greatest threats are to his mind and morality. Superman isn't boring, he just requires more finesse to write: you can't just resort to him beating up people because he's the strongest, so you have to challenge the non-physical parts of his persona.
If anything could work for these people, I think a Justice League Unlimited kind of direction would: in the cartoon they essentially had a huge, organized, and ultimately intimidating superhero bureaucracy which was never really accountable to anyone, and the story took deliberate advantage of this, which was nice because it was the natural direction for the story to go (Watchmen themes and all that). I think this would effectively utilize the over-all tonal differences between Marvel and DC, where the DC characters are generally more god-like and scary.
The way I figured you should do it is avoid doing a "Justice League" movie, and build around extended cameos in each other's films. As a rule, the members of the Justice League seem a lot more likely to show up in each other's books compared to, say, Iron Man or Captain America. So if you have Hal dealing with the Sinestro Corps, he can call in the Justice League to help out as well as the Green Lantern Corps. Wonder Woman is fighting Ares or some other big villain, you can have the Justice League clearing the way/dealing with the collateral damage so that Wonder Woman can get her showdown. They don't all have to be there, since a lot of them can have legitimate excuses for not making it: Green Lantern and Superman can be off-planet for whatever reason, Aquaman might have pressing issues in Atlantis, Wonder Woman could be off in some other realm doing something with whatever pantheon she's hanging out with that day, etc. You could even use those to hint at upcoming movies. So some movies might have only Batman and Flash giving a helping hand, some might have no helping hand (Flash against Zoom), or some might have them all showing up (SCW).

My other idea was to do a reverse of the all the Marvel end-credit scenes, where instead of Fury or S.H.I.E.L.D. finding something on a new hero, one of the secondary villains in a movie would be going to jail and get an offer from a shadowy figure, eventually building to a Suicide Squad/Task Force X movie.

I wish Tucker would post and tell us if the colour thing is a colour timing choice or what. I like how the red planet and blue planet have a totally different sensorium.
I'm sure it was filmed in a drab manner to perhaps make it fit the depressing tone of him trying to deal with his life on a planet with ungrateful assholes. Its color scheme reminds me quite a bit of nBSG. A movie reference would be Saving Private Ryan.

I don't have any story to go on at this point. I don't really like the new look but, as I said, I'm willing to be won over, just like with the moldy joker makeup.

Anyway, we can only see if it works in context when the movie is out.

what makes you think that makes a difference? Repetition can apply to more than just story. Having the same boring visual details can be just as bad as having plot elements repeat. Why didn't the Star Wars Prequels just recycle OT designs, or the new ST movie recycle the identical ones from the original TOS movies?

This is kinda why people say you are missing the point.. you seem to have been operating on the assumption that the things I've been pointing out to you over this thread or the replicant thread only apply in single specific examples, when they can (and often do) apply on a broader scale. Once again, its more an issue of mindset and the way you think about things than it is about specific ideas.

To which I'm also going to add: You have to realize that so far you've established a 'reputation' for thinking in very fixed lines and thats hwy it seems like people are ganging up on you. I appreciate that oyu want to change, and that (at least in my case) warrants patience from me, but people can and will judge on past behaviours until they're given a reason to change their minds. That's human nature, and part of the way you reacted here reinforced that perception. Again this is why I said it matters to pay attention to the words and context of what people say and what you yourself say. People JUDGE you by these things, even online, and a carelessly phrased sentence or wrongly placed word can and will give a meaning than what you might have intended.

The only defence against this is caution, or enough familiarity with the way people think and talk that you can 'look past' the words and understand them.

So I'm just going to say at the beginning with the Warner Brothers logo, they should have made it so that the WB fit in a Superman crest. It's almost the perfect shape already, come on!

I think they'd be advised to play with the contrast a LITTLE more, it shouldn't be washed out the whole time. That said, I'm excited they're going with such an interesting direction for the character. They wisely put that little bit in there where they said the S is a symbol for peace on his world. Right there we establish the Superman identity as alien, make some mention of an alien culture, and give the costume a less tacky reason for being.

I'm not sure why the suit looks so goofy in the texture, maybe it is some kind of goofy armor. I'm happy with what I'm seeing, we got some good emotional resonance with the parents (fathers highlighted here) and all that. He also seems to have an aspirational mission. I'm intrigued about the "How? He'll be a god to them," aspect of Jor-el, but not because its bad, but because I think it is an interesting idea to put in there. If the Kryptonians know that they're godlike beings, having Clark land on Earth isn't just to hide him or something, its a way to elevate them... its a kind of invasion, a benevolent sounding one, but still chilling. I think it could give the people of Earth a damned good reason to fear him.

Also seeing the look of the Fortress of Solitude as an ice-locked starship of some sort is rather intriguing. I'm pumped for some increased complexity of the Kryptonian people, and I'd like the idea of both fathers giving something to Superman that is unique, both good and bad. Hopes, fears, and aspirations from the Kents, and a drive for leadership as well as some arrogance of superiority from his birth parents. Seeing a kid juggle that and try to come up with an idea of who he should be, godlike ruler or friend and protector, would be fun. Maybe more ambitious than the movie will end up being, but yeah, so far I'm hopeful.

Would I be upsetting the balance or something if I stated that I actually like the new look much better than the others? Something about wearing what looks like bright red underwear over blue tights never really did it for me.

Someone recreated the Man of Steel theme used in the trailer.

This is the first preview for Man of Steel that actually makes me want to see the movie. The first two just gave me the vibe of YASFOS (Yet Another Stupid Freaking Orgin Story) and look we changed the costume to be all grimdark now. The new preview makes it look like this will be the movie Superman Returns wished it was. Seeing the costume better in this preview it seems to have the iconic elements, while being more realistic as actual clothing. I am far more interested in the characterization and it looks like it will be a really interesting take on the character. If it is half as good as The Dark Knight it will worth watching.

Why does us commenting on the wardrobe have to be anything but us commenting on the wardrobe? Sometimes, people thinking Clark new dud's suck is nothing more than people thinking Clark's new duds suck, and yes, I was far more happy with the Reeves era ones (which were 2 inches worth of cape length short of perfect)
But, since they're pretty explicit about the 'Clark=Hope' theme even from what we've seen from the trailers, yes, the grimdark suit design seems somewhat contraindicated.
'Next time I let Superman take charge, just hit me. Real hard.'
'You're a princess from a society of immortal warriors. I'm a rich kid with issues. Lots of issues.'
'No. No dating for the Batman. It might cut into your brooding time.'
'Tactically we have multiple objectives. So we need to split into teams.'-'Dibs on the Amazon!'
'Hey, we both have a Martian's phone number on our speed dial. I think I deserve the benefit of the doubt.'
'You know, for a guy with like 50 different kinds of vision, you sure are blind.'

You know what I thought was a good decision? CGing Superman's cape. While it's not always CGed, which is a good sign they're not injecting computer goodness just for the sake of doing it, I like how it's looking. Those shots of him marching out of the Fortress of Solitude look amazing.

It still hasn't occurred to me that this film is real and will be in theaters soon. When I saw the trailer, I thought it was a tease of 'what could happen' or what Superman Returns* could've been.

* I actually liked Superman Returns. However, I'm aware of its problems and I think many gripes people have with it are justified.
