It depends on what the pull-strength of those bows were. Even if they don't penetrate the armor, the impact of the arrows could still be hard enough to knock the trooper off his bike and cause physical trauma.

The lack of penetration, though, seems to be acceptable-none of those trajectories look like it would result in any of the arrows hitting the body glove.

Not to mention that any arrow that didn't hit a piece of plate would probably do a pretty good job of penetrating the body glove.

The arrows that would hit the body glove instead of armour plating being which ones, if you could be cared to elaborate?

AMT, I'm sorry that nobody else got the joke. I chuckled, at least.

No, I was obviously referring specifically to those arrows that miss the trooper entirely.

Seriously though, the Ewoks fell a number of stromtroopers with arrows between the plate in the movie, so they can clearly aim well enough and put enough power into the arrow.

George should have at least given the Ewoks crossbow blasters like Chewie to level the playing field a little

in reality, ewoks vs storm troopers would be like War of the Worlds- "ARTILLERYMAN: It's bows and arrows against the lightning!"

Why? They're shooting at white and black targets that really stand out and are over twice their size.

No. :)

They were killing Stormtroopers by aiming for the tiny gaps in their armor between the joints. Even nine feet tall Navi from Avatar have got nothing on that. If ewoks were on Pandora they would headshot Quartich through the glass canopy of his gunship while it is several thousand feets above the ground.

I prefered the pic with an AT-AT in snow up past it's knees. Not that it's anything we haven't discussed before, it just made me smile.

Not an 'if movies were realistic' one, but still an amusing (to me) Star Wars-related picture from Cracked.com.

My nerdiness has gotten the better of me...

:banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

It wasn't a Stormtrooper, FFS! It was a Biker Scout!

And on the realism side of things, those guys do actually have much larger gaps in their armour, to give them increased mobility. I don't believe we actually saw any Stormtroopers fall to arrows. They were jumped and beaten with rocks instead...

So I stare wistfully at the Lightning for a couple of minutes. Two missiles, sharply raked razor-thin wings, a huge, pregnant belly full of fuel, and the two screamingly powerful engines that once rammed it from a cold start to a thousand miles per hour in under a minute. Life would be so much easier if our adverseries could be dealt with by supersonic death on wings - but alas, Human resources aren't so easily defeated.
