It's Nancy Pelosi. The GOP (Gathering Of Pigs) has a vicious, knee-jerk passionate hatred for her that was unrivaled until President Obama came onto the scene. Now they have a vicious, knee-jerk passionate hatred for him that is only slightly deeper. Together, a pushy woman and an uppity black fella, they represent the worst nightmare for national leadership that they can imagine.

And "Political Correctness" means we can't ever say anything bad about Muslims, ever, because it's not polite. The GOP want to call the Ft. Hood shootings what they are (from their point of view): an evil plot by the Mooooz-lims. Remember, they're still not convinced that President Obama isn't "one of them" this whole time. In fact, I'm surprised they haven't publicly said anything about "how easy it is for Muslim terrorists to operate openly in the country not that he is in charge", etc. I'm sure it is only a matter of time. Remember, that DC sniper guy had an Islamic name, after all.

Give it time; some GOP slophead will let it slip sooner or later.

Why exactly do people hate Pelosi so much? Anything grounded in fact? Because I've heard all kinds of vague ultra-rage at her people I work with and don't understand the reason.

As said above, she's a "pushy" female, in other words, a "bitch". It's the same reason they hate Hillary Clinton. She's the enemy, therefore they fear and hate her, and she isn't a white male Christian, so they hate and fear her even more. It really is that simple and irrational.

That is because they are killing liberty with their socialist laws and rules. Did you not see world comrades or the clearly labeled liberty on the statue bound up in tape?

Don't try to think too hard.

For the courtroom one... aren't the rights we give people in trials things like right to an attorney, prevention from self-incrimination and other basic things need for a fair trial?

Also, isn't blood sticky?

Notable wording- first off, the second one implies that US Assent is needed for any other government to do anything, which is a good glimpse into the conservative jingoist mindset, and that anyone who isn't in the US is an evil socialist (World Comrades indeed). But also, it says "Even the US thinks we need to reduce her carbon footprint." Her being the US/Liberty. Apparently no nation is concerned about reducing their own carbon footprint, just victimising the poor USA.

When you point that out they would just point out the symbolism.

It's not really symbolism when you clearly label something so that it's absolutely clear what you meant. As if it wasn't before.

Jesus, does Chuck Asay target complete retards with his cartoons? That panel with a tied-up Statue of Liberty was like drawing a whale and labelling it "A whale". You know, just in case somebody doesn't get it :D

I find Asay to be consistently delivering on the "terrible" part of this thread. There were a few clever comics in here, but none of them were made by Chuck ;)

You know, if it weren't for the absurd 'blood of the innocents' caption, the Obamatrain slipping on the Abortion Issue would actually be a pretty clever metaphor. The first one... what is the connection between the third panel and the other two supposed to be? It doesn't resolve them at all....

It's supposed to imply that by actually trying the people in Gitmo instead of leaving them to rot there forever the terrorists win.

I know the retardation is incredible. The only thought process that makes sense is if they believe that anyone in there obviously deserves to be in there, so showing them any consideration for the rule of law is somehow being weak. It takes a special kind of stupid for that.

It also points to the implication that the terrorists are going to be treated "like common criminals", which leads most Conservatards to the standing accusation that the Democrats are "soft on crime". The old saw is that "criminals have more rights than honest citizens" and that in a Democratic justice system, the criminals are let off easy because the "Dems see them as victims of society/oppression/etc".

The hysteria about them is so amazing though. I love that one woman from 'Fox & Friends' who manages to be so vacuously concerned about dumb shit. Someone should tell her that there are murders and rapists in America right now! Just sitting in prisons, and no one is doing anything about it!

I decided to grace this thread with a bad cartoon that actually manages to be funny. Unfortunately, it also hearkens back to the days of the yellow peril, which made me feel bad for laughing at Chibi-Rudd's comment.

Its still funny, but yeah, it does hearken to the yellow peril days. One could also interpret it as an insult into the belief of the afterlife, hence Rudd's comment as if we would get this much for our soul (because it doesn't exist). No doubt that isn't the interpretation but I can't help feeling that extra meaning slipped out accidentally, and makes it funny in a way.

But hey, Winston Churchill was quoted that he would do a deal with Satan if it saved Britain, so Rudd is in good company. He is only doing a deal with China for lots of cash.

I keep on looking back at it and alternately chuckling at the funny and cringing at the yellowy perilousness of it.

My favorite part about this is that the cartoonist has called it the Climaquiddick Ocean. Ted Kennedy is dead and has nothing to do with the issue at hand, but right-wingers still can't resist taking pot shots at him.

IIRC that cartoon is a few months old and came out at about the same time as the Stern Hu affair, the crackdowns on Uighurs, the attempted crackdown on the Melbourne International Film Festival and all manner of other nefariousness. I don't think that this is yellow peril baiting as so much as it is "Are you REALLY sure you want to get into bed with these people?"

Posting this newest Chuck Asay cartoon specifically for what it implys.
One, are you going to tell me most Teabagger nutjobs DON'T wave Nazi slogans and symbols constantly referring them to Obama?
Or is the speaker somehow implying the Teabaggers themselves are Nazi's?
Second someone show me a single instance, anywhere, ever, of a church pastor, priest, speaker, etc ever having his free speech taken away.
