Yes. I really don't like the idea of paying to play, especially something like an rpg. But the more I see the more its quashed. The look of it is unreal. I found a link today where they had footage at E3 I believe. They showed an Xwing (sfoils were stubby looking and it moved to slow in my opinion) flying around an ISD and shooting TIEs. That was the reason I even considered SWG and I will have to say, I don't feel disappointed.

You might be a bit dissapointed when you hear what I have to say. Well the X-wings and Ties and ISDs they won't exist in the game you must first buy. The version you will recieve will only have the planets, no space at all, to get space you have to buy it full boxed value, and that won't be out until a year after the first part is. So you have $49.95 to pay for the first CD, then you will probably have to download 1-200 megs of upgrades, patches, add-ons and you better have a top of the line PC. Now you add in the $20 a month for one year you get $240 plus the $49.95 Plus the space expansion for $49.95 makes it about $350+ invested into it not to mention the time to dlown the Updates that follow the the Space Expansion which would take up your game playing time, and if you have an older computer you would need to upgrade adding to the amount spent. Then you may have to worry about ingame spammers, cheats, and scammers maybe even Hackers who cheat. Then you will be in a world overflowing with Jedi and Wookies and Imperials, smugglers and bounty hunters, but namely Jedi most of which will become Dark Jedi as they won't have the patiences to actually become one but alas there will be many, but garanteed the thing will be reckless, possibly anarchy. Also have to look at how many little kiddies will be playing it and unintelligently roaming around the game map, probably begging for credits so they can fly to Yavin to set up their own secret base of some sort. But then again you can't fly to Yavin you just go to a terminal and then you appear on Yavin or anyplace you wish with all of the payload you can pay for, possibly entire speeders. Without the Space Expansion the world will be exceptionally dull, but you could make friends and team up against people, but there is no perma death so you can kill then be killed then kill again so there may be a few Suiciders out to cause you one hell of a time. But you best wait and buy it and play it and find out, it is up to the player to deside wether it is good or not.

Yes they will be. But they will be entirely different versions of the game each one not being able to interconnect. So if you play the Xbox or PS2 version you cannot play with the PC players and Vice Versa, each is to be developed and played differently. But they will not have the space expansion either when they are released if my memory doesn't fail me.

Acutaly they arlready said what they are doing about Jedi, only the hard-core of hardcore shall become Dark Jedi, And the Light Jedi shall be even harder

According to the head of SWG trying to become a Light Jedi is like....
What a sixteen-hour spawn camp was in Everquest where you have six other groups fighting for control, Thats just the time element there, The acutal diffculty will be even harder

He also add in later that there base idea was to give the player who had become force-sensative(Roughly three hours of work you have to do and can't stop for anything) to becoming a *possible Jedi is another eight hours of work all of which must be done in a row and to achive MASTER level takes roughly, FIFTEEN Hours of doing things and you must be online for that entire time.
Jedi are going to be few and far between, Can you name anyone with three uninterupted hours of time? Let Alone Eight or Fifteen?

Some children have that much time during summer and winter break. They might have trouble with being allowed that much computer time, but it is well within the grasp of the sufficiently spoiled.

I'm not kidding, I've met one of the game-balancing guys, they are not @%@% around with Jedi, Lots of other ideas they tossed out like Both Light and Dark Side Jedi Charaters would become Perma-death soon as they reached Knighthood. That idea died though they are still kicking around if you kill an oppostie Jedi(IE Light kills Dark, Dark kills Light) Its Perma-death, that idea will probably get axed to but belive me, being a Jedi will make some of the hardest to get EQ items look like five mintue runs to the store in comparison

This game looked excellent when I first saw it, but realizing that it would cost me $20.00 a month and an immense amount of playing time ticks me off. That won't work for me. I don't have that much money to throw around.

Thank you Professor Profound. I am well aware of all of that thank you. However, I will reiterate, the whole reason I even CONSIDERED Galaxies, i.e. the Space Expansion, looks incrediable and has really quashed any doubts. (Except for that flying with the mouse thing. I want to use my wingman extreme baby, yeah!)

yes. the idea of playing a SW game with another SW fan is the greatest thing that can possible happen, but the price thing does bring up a problem.

Y'know, back during the Great Depression, people were STILL scrimping and saving up money to buy radios. They didn't need 'em, they brought no real use to a struggling household, yet people STILL insisted on getting 'em.

Trust me: If SWG is good enough, even the poorest person will find a way to pay for it.
