The "Assumption of Identical Circumstances" argument. This argument comes into play by Trekkies who wish to claim that TNG is greater than TOS, "because you're doing the same exact thing with the ICS!" This line of logic usually ignores that the end result circumstances are usually different... i.e. for the aforementioned example, there's a vast plethora of evidence to suggest that TNG's capabilities are less than the supposed capabilities of TOS, yet there's a vast shortage of evidence to say that ANH+ is lesser than the prequels.

Oh, that argument is also characterized by constant use of "If/Then" arguments... "If SW gets {technology or ability}, then ST gets {unrelated technology or ability}".
