Any board with moderation and posters as vigilant as this one about trolling would make an invasion pointless. Outside of outright hacking and defacing the board, trolls can't really do much.

In all fairness, it isn't grandstanding. Just his personality. And he was making a point in describing what he saw to illustrate why he is making his argument and not being just a drama queen. Tubbs's comment really was pretty unnecessary, unless he actually means that a five word description of kiddie porn is the same as actually seeing it and that his mind works in such a way that he can't even comprehend an idea without viewing it, since he said that the description undid the fact that he didn't actually see the image.

Tubbs also make the nice little jab, that he is smarter than anyone that didn't turn off their image viewing capabilities, not taking into account people like myself, that had no idea you could even do that or knows how to do it and people that logged in and just started browsing without any knowledge that may have accidentally happened across the images.

I wasn't viewing the forums when the incident happened, and wouldn't have known about any 'invasion.' I would have been very surprised (and pissed) to see child porn on this site. The registration system change was discussed fully. The decision was made after going through all official channels.

No one can stop invasions of this type easily without massive amounts of work. It was determined that the amount of work put in was detrimental compared to the number of trolls stopped.

Perhaps the chans waited for us to change the system, perhaps they just saw a weakness and went after a board that disses the chans a lot. Perhaps it was random.

Everything was handled properly. The pictures deleted, law enforcement informed, users banned, registration stopped. If this was somehow not perfect enough, please enlighten us.

Red, there isn't a vendetta against Colfax, at least not by me. Been taking the kid on a post-by-post basis, not like I go out of my way to find him and shit on him whenever he says something, in fact, you'll probably notice most times I insult him now is after he's said something stupid to me or in a thread I was already in. Come hang out in the AIM chat some time, and after a few nights of Colfax you'll get the supreme amount of patience it takes to pull this off too. Most of the time, he brings this shit on himself.


Anyways, back on topic, from what I remember, the reasoning for switching over to the automated system was less work for admins and to try and boost our membership. Both are good things, but if it means not having to reach for brain bleach every time some chantard gets a wild hair up their ass I'm all for the old school method, or at least some system that can tell that "anonlol" isn't here to give their take on why the Enterprise can blow up the Deathstar.

The source of the name comes from Ricardo Tubbs, who was a character on Miami Vice. Tubbs listed his location as Miami, FL and I was tired of the stigma attached to his name, so I made a thread and said I was going to call him Tubbs from now own because I wanted him to be as cool as the character was. Tubbs also liked it and thought it was cool.
