Not everyone is a CVN Ender, most ships leave on Monday and come back on Friday for their training, not disappear for a month of two.
And since such deployments like what the Boxer did include in it OTEs I support it. the article explicetly states that this is only a humanitarian mission.
Yes, and? Since the Peleliu isn't deploying with a Strike group all about 1/2-3/4 of it's required training goes out the window. They'll still have all the required certs, in all likelyhood.
Really on a CVN we do nothing but training - most of our seatime is being out there for piot and airwing quals. And like the Hill we will do evolutions enroute to anywhere else. But the article says that this is a straight humanitarian mission. Comparee that with the announcements of diplomatic missions during comtwoex (sp?) which stress both the mission and the training.
I think you mean COM2EX(I know what you're talking about)

But that's kinda my point...the Peleliu is not deploying in a Strike Group, so it wouldn't be doing a COM2EX exercise. Small Boys that go on "Crack Pacs" don't do COM2EX exercises.
Freshly qualified nubs have nothing on experienced watchstanders. You elevate them from nubs to SIRs by doing a shitton of training. And they are removing that portion of this. If they were doing evolutions as well on the way, that would be fine. But the article paints a different picture. I just hope the CO has DSAT do a lot of spot training while they go.
They probably will, and in addition the "most dangerous" part of a LHA's operation(the flight deck) doesn't look like it's gonna be happening much. Both you and I know that the biggest worry is with Damage control, and both you and I know that, so long as you pay attention, a fucking monkey could do it.

(My GQ station for two years was with a Repair locker. The Biggest problems we every had were invariably bottemfeeders who couldn't do simple shit like pipe patching)
"The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles."
