Oh. That's good. And bad.
Why aren't they reported? Surely, not all the media are sucking up to the government?
I'm wondering, because over here, the big media fucking hate our government and won't pass an opportunity to stick it up to the stupid fucks in power. And holy hell do they get a lot of ratings from that...

On the whole would you say your government is pro-business or anti-business? In the US, all major media outlets are owned by ginormous corporations and the current regime is very sympathetic to their interests and enabling to their vices. Were that to change, I'm sure we'd see a reappearance of the late 90s where every uncontrollable fart Clinton made threatended to single-handedly destroy Western civilization.

On the whole? It's hard to say. The problem is that the media don't seem to like big business much either (despite being mostly giant private conglomerates and all), probably because that's their viewer's attitude.
Much more anti-business than the US, though. Another factor is that they already tried to get the media under their control with ham-fisted bills and regulations that were shot down time and time again. And some blackmail, too. I guess if you declare war on the media, they are going to hate you whatever your stance on free enterprise
The media is very friendly with the admin. I dont even watch tv news, at this point.
This day is Fantastic!

The problem is that most Americans have become so apathetic towards this administration. The administration is going to do anything it wants to do, regardless of what Congress or the Constitution says. Once the President has made up his mind, no amount of logic or reason is going to change it.
For many years, this administration was using fear to justify their actions to Americans. Thats how they were able to win the 2004 election, they played into peoples fear. Thats how they were able to get away with torture.
But you cant keep people living in constant fear. Most Americans are tired of living in fear and they are now starting to ask the questions that should have been asked years ago. And as these questions are being asked, this administration is starting to unravel and fall apart.
But the damage has already been done, and I believe that most Americans believe that this administration is so corrupt and the nation divided that any impeachment attempt would fail. The only silver lining is that next year is an election year and then this administration is gone.
Campaigning for the next election has already begun and the election is over a year away. Usually, you don't see this level of activity until the year of the election. Its a sign that the people are counting the days until this administration is over. Its kind of like how shopping stores put up Christmas Decorations really early. The earlier you put them up, the closer it seems to Christmas.
Unfortunately, their is still a portion of the American population that is still living in fear and will blindly support anything the President says or does.
Im trying to figure out whats holding congress back, myself. They seem perpetually 6 months behind the general populace.

Maybe the protests just haven't demanded loudly enough that the people in charge pay attention. Story time: back in the 70s, my university had much more vigorous protests than we get now. First, they would stand in the middle of campus and protest. Then, if nobody listened, they would move to the middle of a major street and protest there. Blocking traffic forces some kind of response, and shows that you're serious.
Generally not. And when things go awry, like the recent police violence against demonstrations for immigrant rights, it's just a blip on the media and only those dwell on it who were already looking for it. And ooh, look, American Idol! (is that still on? I have no clue, lacking a television) But in general, the Simpsons' parody of Faux News in AMP is reasonably realistic, as far as portraying general attitudes.
People also tend to feel powerless or disconnected, and tend not to become involved much, taking it for granted that corruption will rule. My experience with public education also tends to give the impression that the schools, in general, don't do much to instill a sense of ready accessibility to the major powers in government (even less so the local ones). Even more telling, I don't get much of a feeling of personal responsibility for the corporate direction being instilled either.
