I just saw Ghost Rider and had a blast. Its a pretty fun movie to see, even if it does get a bit cheesey.

Really? I guess because I read the book, I knew what the plot really was.

I guess the marketing was too influenced by previous fantasy movies like Narnia was with LOTR.

I saw Stranger Than Fiction starring Will Ferrell, whose performance surprised me much like Jim Carrey did on The Truman Show. The writing's pretty nice and tight and the characters seem to be named after famous scientists like Crick, Pascal, Eiffel, Mercator. Those are the ones I caught; I'm pretty sure the other characters are named after ones I'm unfamiliar with.

Pursuit of Happyness was very good. Will Smith plays an actual character, not himself so it shows that given some good material the guy can act. He really got me engaged in the guys plight and feeling for him. The story was very depressing - I don't even want to think about if I could make it if my life got that bad. But it was still a pretty good movie.

And while it has been out for a while (it might not even be in theaters anymore) The Departed was fucking amazing.

Children of Men was a fantastic movie. I'll snap the thing up as soon as it's released on DVD. That was the last movie I saw at a theater, but the last movie I saw period was Crank. I watched it about 3 times in 5 days. Thinking about it now, I want to go watch it again. I think I probably like that movie too much.

I just saw Pan's Labyrinth last night. Wow! What an excellent, haunting film. My only real gripes are that the Captain almost came off as too evil and that Ofelia's action with the grapes seemed to come out of left field.

The Prestige was a good puzzle film and tightly constructed. It makes you want to see it a second time. Unfortunately, I did, but didn't find that the second viewing added much. Once I knew the trick, the film seemed less interesting.

On DVD, I recently watched Good Night, and Good Luck, The Castle of Cagliostro, and one of my long-time favorites, Pleasantville.

OT, I know, but there's a Professor named Hilbert, Eiffel's assistant is named Escher, and the bus at the end is apparently a Kronecker bus. Checking IMDB, there is also a Dr. Mittag-Leffler, presumably at the University. Very interesting names there.

The last film I saw was Casino Royale. I would classify it as good, especially for a Bond film.

I enjoyed "The Queen" quite a bit, I hope it gets the Oscar. I highly recommend it. For sure it's better than the very bland "Little Miss Sunshine" .
