But let's face it, smoking is a moron/asshole activity anyway, so you're not going to get the best class of people represented in that group.
Just what the hell are you trying to say?
Einstein: smoked
Openheimer: smoked
Tolkein: smoked
Twain: smoked
I'm perfectly fine with arrogance, when it is merited. I'm perfectly fine with saying that smoking is a bad idea, costs (monetarily and physically) far more than any pleasure gained for it is worth, and is a dangerous activity.
But it's also an addictive thing. People start when they're young and stupid, and maybe they don't have the will, ability, or desire to quit.
Does it make them less of an awe-inspiring and emulation-worthy person than the all-star player with a 150 IQ, a body in good health, and a fine quality of will? Probably.
But does it make them a "moron/asshole"? Does a single vice invalidate a person's ability to be a good person? Are a good quarter of my friends and half my co-workers (and Tolkein, Einstein, and Openheimer) morons and assholes, and not worthy of expectation of honest response?

I would also like to note that your assertion is directly shown to be false here: of the two people who have posted who identify themselves as smokers, both of them have 'fessed up'.
