I've read that people who are suicidal often do tell people around them that they are thinking about suicide to see the reaction it gets or something.

Really? Because I know several people who did commit suicide and they told no-one. And neither did I when I tried it.

Well david, you can either come back now, as the joke season is officially over, and fess up to your bad taste and be done with it, or you can sit around for a few days, giggling as you watch this thread, hoping people will post worriedly about you. I sure as hell won't.

Or, you know, you're dead. Which I doubt. But if the final option is true, response is, of course, optional.

Well it's obviously AF, as I wouldn't be posting otherwise. Probably not the smartest joke, and I would've pointed it out to be one sooner if I hadn't been in NYC today to see chicago on broadway with my school's music department. Sorry if I actually scared anyone. Anyway though anyone who's ever talked to me on the actual subject of suicide will know that I'm actually very strongly anti-suicide (though I do believe that if someone is in actual pain of a great enough degree (such as from cancer or some such) then they have every right to off themself if they want to). Again, sorry for the inappropriate joke.

I don't think you scared anyone. Rather, I think you pissed people off.

And it's not like bad-taste jokes haven't been made before to give you fair warning. But meh, not my problem.

Suicide really isn't funny. Ever.

DD, don't ever joke about suicide ever again or I'll beat you absolutely black-and-blue senseless!

Actually, I know some cases where it is. And I also know that kind of stuff is bad taste, but to be brutally honest, sometimes bad taste can be funny.

DD's joke was still bad, though, but at least he also apologised.

Sometimes in the worst way suicides can be funny, in the same way that schadenfreuda can sometimes be funny. Darwin awards and all that.

The thing is, even then, this was just poorly executed (no pun intended).

Frankly, I think it each and every threat of suicide should be taken seriously. IP Trace the poster, call the ISP and local police department and inform them that a suicide threat has been made. If it's a serious situation, then you've saved a life. If it's a stupid fucking prank, than the prankster gets to deal with the aftermath, and maybe learns something about actions and consequences.

Even better if the prankster in question is a teenager living at home who has to explain things to his or her parents.

What would you actually define as a threat, though?

Reminds me of a guy in jail; he always had to be kept in a straight jacket and wearing kevlar non-rip baggy clothes because he kept cutting himself.

Anyway I don't know why you're all so upset; it was April 1st, everything's a joke on that day.

Sometimes, I find suicidal ideas I get kind of funny. I find it's the best way to deal with them, and sometimes, me and my friends joke about it.

"Hey, Joe, if you decide to kill yourself, give me a call. We can be like lemmings! Yay!"

Stupid shit like that. It is easier to deal with it that way, at least for me.

I don't think anyone believed him. I certainly didn't: that doesn't excuse his pathetic attention-whoring.

Anyway, I still want to read his emo blog. I'm bored and I can't sleep. :)
