This thing looks bloody weird. I don't know about this one. I'd like to say they know what they're doing, but it looks too damn odd.
well the syer AUG looks like it belongs in a cheesy sci fi movie, this just looks like it escaped from an anime.
Hey, most anime that actually use bullet weapons just shamelessly copy the design from real-life weapons, and then don't mention the name to get around copyright.
The other thing...seems like firer's hand has to be awfully close to the muzzle blast. The risk of the firer somehow letting go of the weapon and accidently grabbing the flame shooting out of the muzzle might in all actuality be rather insignificant, but that thought still jumps out at me.
What about the firer somehow letting go of the weapons and accidently grabbing the bullet stream shooting out of the muzzle?

actually rephrase this...

the Styr and the P something or another that shows up on Stargate, look like they belong on a sciencefiction movie. That gun looks like the Valient 90 from Robotech.

The Steyr is actually a bloody nice weapon, good ergonomics and as long as you get the updated version, its quite resiliant to damage, wear and tear and won't melt when fired on full-auto.

I thought it was okay looking...
Man though, it would jump quickly, and it wouldn't give good support for kick from fire like that. I rate it: nice try, but keep try'n!

Why would it jump if the impulse from firing is aiming straight toward the main of support?
