The Kitties vs. the Snakes

Post by The Yosemite Bear »

setting post stone dogs, the alliance is en-route to alpha centaria, the Snakes have suffered very heavy losses, but are mostly in control of the solar system, The Kzin scout ships arrive three hundred years ahead of schedual. the Kitties have their inertial dampening fields, and their superior fusion drive, compared to the Draka's fission drive.

From what S.M. Sterling was telling me about space-draka ground technology, I'm fairly certain that ground battles would be a totally one sided curbstomp in the draka's favour.

Against someone who isn`t suffering from terminal stupidity I supose and the kitties have telepaths aboard their ships to scan the enemy crews minds.

Draka, from S.M. Stirling's stories, and the Kzin, from Larry Niven. Look them up-- Google should suffice.
It's a strange world. Let's keep it that way.

Depends...snakes win in a ground war. It's hard to think of Chuft Captain winning against Gwen...

Kzin win in space...no matter how much I think they suck (they always attack before they are ready..), they are much more advanced in spacefaring technology

Hrmm, Can someone give me some more info on the "Snakes" I would like to know what I'm up against before saying just how much the kittens would win... Oh, and technically they are called the "EVIL" instead of just "Kittens"

Could you share some of those details? I, for one, would certainly like to know and they would help settle the monthly "draka vs. somebody else" threads we tend to get in this forum.

Just how castrated is the Drakian space fleet?
Once/if the Kzin engage the Draka on the ground they are in for a very painful war of attrition. As shown spectacularly in the story The Wunder War, Kzinti suck at terrestrial warfare, anyone with automatic weapons could hold out against a first-invasion period kzinti army until Judgement Day. The problem is when they get bored of their unarmoured troops being massacred they tend to just nuke the offending site from orbit.
I predict much nuking.

I was kinda hoping he'd show up in this thread. He's got an account here after all.

Went that sounds "city savaging" to me Necron. Thanks. Considering that the good mister Stirling wrote some of the Man-Kzin Wars as well as the Draka, I think he's the one in the best position to comment on this particular hypothetical contest.

Wait, the guy who wrote the Draka and (I thinK) those Terminator books has an account at SD.net? :?:
If Religion and Politics were characters on a soap opera, Religion would be the one that goes insane with jealousy over Politics' intimate relationship with Reality, and secretly murder Politics in the night, skin the corpse, and run around its apartment wearing the skin like a cape shouting "My votes now! Yes, Prawn. S.M. Stirling does indeed have an account here. Doesn't post much, though.

Have a very nice day.
