Oh, just drop the holocaust already. Saxton was wrong. He's human. He can be wrong.

It's possible. There's nothing definetive. It's going to depend on peoples interpretation.

Not this debate again. Why does anyone who understands basic principles of debris have too much time on their hands? Having knowledge of something pretty much means that it takes NO time to understand that Endor would be utterly destroyed. Why is it cynical to believe that our current understandings of the science associated with such a massive explosion are true?

Bullshit. Endor wasn't fucked up. The end.

Therefore, we have to come up with a way for it to be possible, knowing what we know from Saxton, for Endor to have been preserved. That leaves:

a) Other, planetary, shield up when DS2 blows

b) Repulsor device used to push debris and DS2 remnants away from Endor

c) Somehow smaller shields, tractoring, and shooting down of enough debris to stop the Endorian holocaust.

d) (Worst reason) Wormhole caused by disrupted space from a nearby blackhole draws in significant Death Star debris and deposits it near Calamari....including Vader's hand...(I'm serious this is the explanation given for allowing the Vader glove to end up on Calamari for the Glove of Darth Vader series to be even remotely true)

Likely some combo of all above .

Because it's a movie. That's why. :P

Actually, it's all in the way Saxton formulated his conclusion. He said "X happened and this caused Y," where X is the destruction of the DS and Y is the holocaust he refers to.

HOWEVER, we have evidence W that Y didn't happen. So, what should Saxton do? Should he say "W didn't happen"? No, because it's pretty clear that W did happen. So, he should have made the conclusion, "X indicates that Y should happen, but W indicates that it doesn't, so we can conclude that Z was in place." Z, of course, is "some solution that kept Y from happening". What this solution is happens to be immaterial.

There is unambiguous EU evidence that Endor is alive. Kyp Durron went there, and there was no mention of a holocaust. Can we just stop beating the dead horse?

Pure canon- Endor dead

EU- Endor alive

Actually, there is the X-wing reference making it a little more ambigous.

Why don't we just say that Endor was kicked in the balls?

That should cover it.

Because there is reason to suggest that there was devestation but perhaps not a completel holocaust. Then again I would wager that Endor was on the brink for a long while.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying.

Not killed, not alive, just kicked in the balls.

In Essential Guides to Aliens and Creatures, the Ewok section, has an Ewok wedding taking place on Endor years after ROTJ. I'd say that is pretty definitive

No it does not. It has the ewoks stuffed in a museum. It never says anything one way or the other about extinction.
