Hannibal Lecter Vs. Jigsaw

Post by Dennis Toy »

Could Hannibal Lecter from Silence of the Lambs get himself out of one of Jigsaw from the movie Saw's elaborate traps. First Hannibal has an Iq of 160 and has a brutal appetite. I think he would actually try to get into the mind of Jigsaw.

Yes. All of those traps were escapable, and the victims had to fail in some way to get killed. Lecter is so psychotic that he doesn't appear to feel very many emotions at all; without panic nor pity and with his immense cunning and intelligence none of the traps observed in Saw would trouble him for more than a couple of minutes. In addition, he seems to be nearly immune to pain as well. He would escape the traps by following the rules and then hunt Jigsaw down, at which point Hannibal would eat him.

Jigsaw's success was predicated entirely on him being a horror movie villain with all the dumb luck that implies. In any normal world Danny Glover and his partner would have kneecapped him in the warehouse.

"Hmmm, that psychotic multiple murderer is disobeying our orders and making moves towards a bound victim? Better do what he says!"

Moments like that more or less ruined Saw for me.

I'd be more interested in a matchup between Hannibal Lecter and John Doe from Se7en.

Pablo is dead on, those cops were fucking stupid. "Let's charge into the psychopathic serial killer's rickety house on the bad side of town without getting extensive backup first and cutting off the whole area!" stupid stupid stupid...

Dr. Lecter doesn't really have something for Jigsaw to exploit. MAybe he'd make him pull his own teeth out to escape or something...at which point Lecter would, then get some false teeth and fixodent, and feed Jiggy his own cancer.

actually both Riggs and Murtah were Sergeants.

And Lecter would easily beat Jigsaw.

In Hannibal, Lecter cut off his own hand with no more preamble than merely stating "You know, this is really going to hurt."

Part of what made Jigsaw powerful was the sheer terror and horror that the people trapped in those little games of his felt. Lecter doesn't feel that. He'll just do whatever he has to to survive, even if it means mutilating himself. Hell, many of Jigsaw's traps merely require that the subject kill some stranger; you think Lecter is going to have a problem with that?

Moreover, Lecter is more than intelligent enough to hear Jigsaw's little spiel and analyze his modus operadi and realize that since he's punishing people who he perceives are wasting their lives, that he's probably someone in a terminal condition, and be able to narrow it down from there. Then he'll show him what a *real* brilliant sociopath is capable of.
