White Christmas in TEXAS!!!
It is snowing in Houston, Texas!!!! Big honkin' Texas sized snowflakes. Several inches are actually sticking to the ground. This is extremely rare in Texas, well on the gulf coast it is anyway. This is the first real white Christmas I have had here at home.
Merry Christmas.
Merry Christmas.

It's already melting off here in the west. I'm fairly sure that by tomorrow the only patches of snow left will be the shady patches. I thought it'd be the first-ever white Christmas in my life, but nah.
Not that I care about white Christmas anyway, but it would've been a novelty.
I heard Corpus was getting hit even harder, too. They've got to be going nuts down there.

I live in Syracuse, NY... a place so infamous for its horrendous snowfall that they made some crappy feature film about it a while ago.
Surprisingly (and for me, happily) there's not an inch of snow on the ground right now. It was 40 degrees out yesterday, which totally wasted what there was.
Snow is so very annoying. It makes it tough to walk, tough to bike, causes massive amounts of corrosive salt to be dumped everywhere, gets contaminated with pollution and turns into massive piles of dirt, and leaves scum everywhere when it melts. Screw this 'white christmas' junk. I want a green christmas so that when I go buy a new bike on monday I can ride it without sliding into a snowbank or spraying it with saline.

Are you living in Houston as well? If so, that makes two of us.Death from the Sea wrote:It is snowing in Houston, Texas!!!! Big honkin' Texas sized snowflakes. Yeah, but our horses have no problem plodding through it. But those wagons.....it's such a chore strapping those chains to the wheels.Lusankya wrote: It snows in Texas?????? Wow.

Thought you were in Little Rock, Wicked.
Yes indeed, it snows in Texas. The northern portion of the state is essentially a giant flat prairie where cold weather blasts through all winter long. It's nothing on the scale of real winter like northerners get, but it gets a bit nippy and snowy on occasion. Dallas-Fort Worth also gets snow occasionally, but the real fun is the ice storms that hit the town. The roads slick over completely and traffic goes nuts. I've been in a couple, and the only safe thing to do is shut down and wait for the roads to clear up so they'll stop crashing into each other on the freeway.
Here in my part of the state, we get snow about three times a winter, and usually it usually only sticks to the ground about once. This is always the signal for the idiots with four-wheel drives to go out zipping around in utter ignorance of the fact that they can accelerate well but not stop worth a damn, so we end up with any number of them sitting in ditches waiting to get towed out.

My history of poor relations with God go back to well before Bush developed any form of political ambitions, thank you kindly.aerius wrote:God loves you for voting Bush.

That's why it snowed in Texas.

most of the snow melted off today, just patches here and there are left behind along with the snowmen I in my brothers yard and everywhere else I have seen.
It is funny, I spent two years up north and learned to drive in the snow, and yet my mother was still worried about me driving in the snow. I was more concerned with all of the other people on the roads who have never even seen snow....
hope everyone had a good Christmas.

Now I'm jealous. It's snowing in Texas, and yet I'm not getting a single fucking flake in Jersey. Mother Nature has her priorities all wrong. She's supposed to not give Texas snow, and give New Jersey something, even if it's only an inch, and all of it is that blackish gunk you see on the sides of the road.
EDIT: As of December 27, I see snow. It almost makes up for falling asleep at 9 the night before and not getting up for 12 hours.
