Toss-up between "A Christmas Story" (which I added to the poll) and "It's a Wonderful Life." My favourite at any given moment depends on whether or not I feel like crying.

They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

Tossup between Bad Santa and Tokyo Godfathers :D

If it's a "classic" flick then it's "A Christmas Story".

I at least watch one showing of "A Christmas Story" during the TBS All day marathon on Christmas day. Never gets old for me.

Excuse me! How the Grinch Stole Christmas, the original animation.
I mean seriously how can you not have that on there. It's on par with Dicken's Christmas Carol.

I'll agree with that.

The Grinch and any related paraphernalia, is utter bullshit- why on Earth anyone would want that included is beyond me. Maybe it's a cultural phenomenom.

In my early Teens I read something (if it is 'The Grinch Story', I've no idea), saw some animated version and was then subjected to that dire film with Carey, which killed it totally for me. Maybe my response was a little... OTT there. I just don't like it.

You do know though that the whole point of the Grinch story though is that the Grinch's Christmas spirit was restored and he gave back all the things he stole ("His heart grew three sizes that day" etc). That's pretty much why.

Bows head in shame... I don't think I really ever did get to the end of the book or the film- if it's a nice moral tale then it's all good, I just had one of those silly over reactional outbursts at seeing the 'grinch' mentioned (I blame Jim Carrey, of course) and that strange reaction of posting before I actually thought about it, occured.

Four of these films crowd the list at the top of my favourites: It's A Wonderful Life, Miracle On 34th Street, A Christmas Story, and How The Grinch Stole Christmas. I trade-off on three different versions of A Christmas Carol, with my present favourite being the 1999 TNT production starring Patrick Stewart.

I also have a somewhat strange choice for a holiday film: Amadeus.

I'm a big fan of the cartoon version of The Grinch. Something to do with being a Dr. Seuss fanboy in my youth. 'Twas a sad day when we lost him.

Actually, the two movies that I always must see during either Christmas Eve or Day are Home Alone 1 and 2. I know, kind of weird but there you have it. But from the list, I'd have to say It's a Wonderful Life.
