I used to do a lot of work through my church...but then I was elected to the Finance committe and nothing, and I mean nothing, will turn you off to religion faster than learning the inner workings of a yuppie church's finances.
That said I'm going to apply to be a volunteer coach for my old high school's Cross Country team next year. I know things have gone downhill when their fastest guy this year had a time slower than what I can do without training for months.
Does anybody here do any volunteer work?

"I put no stock in religion. By the word religion I have seen the lunacy of fanatics of every denomination be called the will of god. I have seen too much religion in the eyes of too many murderers. Holiness is in right action, and courage on behalf of those who cannot defend themselves, and goodness. "

I used to volunteer at a shelter for kids from troubled homes a couple of hours each week back in high school, but haven't done any since entering university. But I've joined a project which aims to increase awareness of the medical profession among young children, which should start early next year.
