Remind you of Raiders of the Lost Ark? The whole skin meltey thing sure reminds me of the ark opening scene when all the Nazis get melted, although it doesnt mention the Romulans heads EXPLODING, somaybe its just a coincidence.

OR MAYBE! its a secret message from the writers who are comparing the Romulans to Nazis! ya never know, i dont really know what kind of government runs the romulans, but they are bad guys so maybe its a dictatorship or something....

OR JUST MAYBE! its just the cliche'd "strong radiation will melt you" or something, i dont know but im pretty sure that that wouldnt happen, of course this is super-duper "tholaron" radiation so whatever.

OR JUST PERHAPS IN THE SLIGHTEST! none of this is what happened and im just making up insane ideas, im not an ST writer so i dont know but if i did oh i would tell you!

Or would I?

It could be useful. It I read you correctly, it would serve the same purpose as a neutron bomb: killing large populations while minimizing the damage to machinery, industrial complex, material resources, etc. Nice if you wanted your enemies' resources for your own. The evaluation of the effectiveness of such a weapon will have to wait for the movie to come out.

Yeah, S F/X guys can be lazy and find old sounds to use. I've heard TIE fighters scream by in some shows/movies. And the same screams.

If that is the way the scene actually plays in Nemesis, then it's obviously just a matter of the writers recycling the flesh-eating plasma from First Contact. Simple as that, and possibly another brain bug in the making.
