Ah, thanks.
Summary Inu Yasha, Strengths, Weakness, Etc.
Claws - Inu Yasha has claws on the end of each one of his digits. I can't recall them ever breaking once i the series. Even a relatively ordinary attack can leave a huge crater in the ground, as seen early on in episode 2 where he just misses hitting Kagome.
Sankou Tessou - More or less his staple attack. Swipes his claws at a target, with yellow lines trailing behind each one. Usually done short range, but takes out multiple enemies at once, even where the claws don't touch. (Just about every episode where there's poison bees or cannon fodder.) There is good indication the effects are slightly larger than what the yellow trails suggest.
(Claws of Blood) - Inu Yasha covers his claws in his own blood and throws it at high speed. Subjectively, it seems a little weaker than Sankou Tessou but has much greater range and area effect. Still, it's strong enough to completely shatter clay-undead (episode 90-something, 'Ambition of the Dead') that weren't even dented by entire armies of people armed with swords and spears.
Tetsugia - Transforms from a rusted blunt katana to a huge wide blade that's nearly as tall as Inu Yasha himself. The strengths of the Tetsugia increase during the course of the series.
Transformed Tetsugia can easily slice through things IY's claws can't penetrate, as seen in episode 7 or 8. Here, he slices through his transformed brother's arm lengthwise without difficult, when previously all he managed was a light scratch.
Kaze no Kize is a technique that projects three trails of yellow energy flow along the ground or the air from the sword. When we first see it, it takes out over 100 youkai and the mountain they were on, leaving only three wide gashes in the ground filled with hot lava. It requires great concentration to use, carefully sensing the interaction of the 'airs' two demons or those with demon-blood produce. Not sure if it can be used in humans that well.
Spoilers for later in the series
Transformed Inu Yasha - Eyes turn red, two bruise-colored stripes go below one eye. When we first see it, Inu Yasha is fighting a building-sized ogre that not only is strong as it is big, but moves much faster than the eye can see AND can read minds. The ogre was strong enough to break the Tetsugia using only it's teeth. However, after this and when Inu Yasha's life was in danger, he transformed. Inu Yasha suddenly moved fast enough to catch the mind-reading ogre off guard, and in one hit not only destroyed it, but shattered it into small pieces. Inu Yasha's transformed state can even scare Sesshomaru. When he is transformed, it is said that unless if he is stopped, he will continue killing and killing until his body cannot take anymore and he dies. Cannot use the Tetsugia at the same time he transforms, because the sword seals his blood, and he later regains control of Tetsugia, so he doesn't transform anymore.
Kaze no Kize (again) - Later on, after the Tetsugia is lightened the Kaze no Kize wraps around his sword and he can use it at will, simply by swinging it.
Bakuryuu - His ultimate sword technique. First wrap the Kaze no Kize around your sword and wait for the enemy to attack with an energy blast. By hit a precise point on the energy blast it is reflected back with both the strength of the attack and the Kaze no Kize multipled. Requires you to be 'stronger' (I assume in terms of willpower) than the opponent. This attack completely shattered a giant dragon who has the size of a small mountain and had a body harder and stronger than steel. This same dragon was only slightly scratched with a high-powered Kaze no Kize and transformed Inu Yasha only left one slightly larger gash, which was laughed off.
Red-Tetsugia - Even later, Tetsugia gains the abilities to dispell magical barriers of great strength. (Weaker ones still seem to be able to be cut through via brute force before this.) To do so, Tetsugia is first transforms into a red blade, then one simply attacks the barrier. This can work with the Kaze no Kize at the same time.
Defense :
Clothes - Made out the Fire-Rat's fur. It's quite common to see swords, etc simply shattering themselves against the clothes themselves. They recieve only minor damage when hit with Sesshomaru's beam-whip. In around episode 4, we see it protects very well against heat - Kagome was uninjured when covered by the shirt, even when on top was a fire 'hot enough to burn even the bones away'. This is probably not an idle boast by a villian, given in the show we actually do see fires that do that to people. (Notably in the episode right after this.) As to be expected of anime, the clothes always seem to repair themselves by the next episode, although one might be able to chalk it up to some magical properties of them.
Body - In the first episode alone, we see that he doesn't even notice a wound caused by an arrow going clean through his shoulder. In other points in the series, we swords thrusted through him, which is painful but doesn't seem to hurt him too much. We also see him bitten nearly in half when he's fighting his transformed brother and that doesn't seem to slow him down either. We see him getting an arm thrusted through his torso, and he still can fight - although at this point he'll probably need to rest for a little bit afterwords. Usually though, alot of attacks don't do anything even to his bare skin. We see in episode 3 that he can have a thin piece of super-strong hair wrapped around his throat. This hair is strong enough to bind him and slam him against a tree. Inu Yasha was strong enough to break free of the thread, the hair instead cut apart the tree behind him. There seemed to be no scratches on Inu Yasha although he was worried for a little bit. In addition, we see that Inu Yasha himself is resistant to heat just like this clothes, when he got hit by the painter's fire in episode 17, which was also 'hot enough to burn away bone'. (Although one might claim the painter was simply boasting.)
Strength/Speed : We see him practically flying in the very first scenes of the first episode alone, and we see him doing it with up to two or three people on his back. He has no apparent problem jumping to heights that seem well above multiples of tree height and can land easily from the same. When he's pretty pissed, we see him move fast enough to blur.
Tetsugia & Scabbard - Tetsugia alone can produce a strong barrier simply by placing it against a door. (Episode 13) It can also protect from extreme posion simply by holding on to it. (Episode 7, I think.) Also, the scabbard itself can be used to shield against attacks, as seen in.... episode 11, I think. When he's fighting Hiten and Hiten shoots out a huge ball of lightning against him. However, the scabbard can crack if the attack is too strong.
Weaknesses : Inu Yasha turns completely human at during the night of a new moon (episode 13, amoung other) and can be knocked out if something smells REALLY bad. (Episode 17, I think 'Cursed Ink of the Hell-Painter')
I'll probably have to do the rest of the group later.... this took longer than I thought.
