You know, Invictus, Stark is kind of right to give criticism to your attitude towards the show: bitching about how much the content here and there annoys and irritates you, yet also going on about how much more of the related merchandise you're going to buy. It is a little hypocritical.

You have demonstrated poor reading skills (how you got that Alliance shit out of my post I have no fucking idea: I'd never used the word Alliance) and your attitude toward the show is hilariously lame. Go buy some more merchandise and miss the point of some more content - after all, the merchandise is more important!
Oh REALLY!?
Stark wrote:Yeah, there's nothing lame about 'complain complain hate complain cliche complain oh I bought every piece of merchandise ever'. That's totally normal And he thinks he's lame because he empathizes with the Alliance(!!)

You there is such a thing as CHANGING YOUR GOD DAMNED MIND!

Also you may wanna note the switching in additude towards the end. Questions about how did they do this.

Other than River note other the last day or so my criticisim has stopped.

Or Spanky, Stark. Are you just so big on wanting to flame someone neither of you can figure it out!?

I don't know about Stark, but I personally certainly wasn't flaming you. If you take criticism and automatically equate it with flaming, you need to grow some thicker skin...

You stupid cocksucker, THAT'S MY REPLY TO YOUR POST ABOUT THE ALLIANCE. Haven't you heard of checking the dates? Most posters wish to avoid this kind of embarassment and do this thing called 'proof reading'.

Just to explain it to peabrain, you said 'you are seeing an Alliance fan don't hate me' and I say 'what, he thinks he's lame because he empathises with the Alliance??'. I later point out I'd never mentioned the Alliance and I don't know where you got that idea from, and you quote MY REPLY TO YOU as proof that I mentioned it. How could my reply influence a post you made beforehand? Why do you think I care about your attitude to the Alliance?

Spanks, my call of 'lame' is motivated by my consideration othat he likes the show and thinks telling us how much he's going to spend on it will make him 'cool', or he actually isn't buying that stuff but wants to show off. Both, lame.

Complaining about flaming when him and Krauser were flaming me before is so hypocritical and ironic it's awesome. Should I say 'oh noes don't say mean things about me' too? :D

Well how about look at the point of this Thread Mr.

My impressions of Firefly. An as I said I figure the merch. Would be a hint at the effect it had on me.

Also yes I misread it my bad.

Now then. Yes I like the Alliance. An frankly. I don't give a shit if you find my taste or shitty attempt at a hint lame or not.

Oh yeah, you totally should. I feel it would help develop your character. Maybe then, you should like, kill a bunch of kids, and your wife, and call yourself Darth Stark or something intimidating like that. And go evil... -er. :P

Clearly. Also, penis can be capitalised, and then it can type somehow. Frankly, terrifying.

It's odd that some characters that are annoying - intentionally or not - work and other don't. For instance, EVA's Shinji is supposed to be annoying, but in the english version he makes me want to stab out my eyes. Wesley of course was 'intended' to be a normal character but writers and directors hated him. River is a hugely annoying *person* (I could never live on a ship with a crazy retarded bitch who might kill me at any time) but only rarely annoyed me as a *character*, since it was all such an integral part of the season.

I was mainly saying that it is likely that laser weapons in firefly are likely not trustworthy in the dirty rough enviroment of combat.
I'm at the episode now. Okay Mal keeps turning his back on Saffron WHY!?

You know I am starting to think he is a real softy at heart... I'd have gunned the woman down the moment I saw her...

Inara however had a... most creative way with dealing with her :D

I think it's more likely that Mal is...dumb.

Really, he may be the captain, but he's kind of a blockhead.

You wont get an argument from me on this one... I wonder. Is the tattoo on Mal's leg "real" or as it a hyna tattoo just for the series?

I'm not even sure there Alliance proper to be honest...

No more Traveller terminology for you. SHE'S OVER F-PSI! :D

They work in the Alliance facility River was tortured/conditioned in. They're clearly Alliance, unless you mean some shadowy Alliance-controlling conspiracy of psionicists or something. I hear that comics (ugh) have much more information about them.

F-PSI? That's... impressive, for a girl who knows kung fu. But can she teleport and melt minds?

The comics weren't anything to sing home about, but it did reveal the Blue Man Group were working for Blue Sun Corporation.

The comic utilized Chinese far worse than the show ever could have: they wrote it all out in Chinese characters. So instead of being able to imagine hearing the characters exclaim 'hoi-poi kung pow!' or whatnot, you're left with a set of ideographic symbols which, to the English reader, may as well been a trio of exclamation points or Goon scribble-speak.

Print is dead.

Like the SW comics that render alien speech in alien characters, so all it communicates is 'gobbledegook' instead of mysterious sounds? :)

I'd suggest worse due to the Firefly crew being main, human characters. It's as if Lando were to abruptly turn into Nien Nub and snap back into Billy Dee Williams in two seconds flat.

(Picture if you would, dear readers, a Shang Tsung shapeshifting-juggle-combo on a narrative scale; flung into the air with the flash of a sly grimace, we are then slammed into the ground with a triple dose of flaming alienation. *Wah-oosh!* No comprehension, no defense for our sore skulls...)

One of the things I liked most about the Firefly series and Serenity was the depiction of the Alliance as a slightly more evil version of the United Federation Planets and their armed forces are obviously not unlike Starfleet - it's a shame we saw relatively little of them and they do not seem to be clear cut baddies; they are a military superpower that seems to offer obvious benefits to it's citizen (if they're loyal of course).

I noticed the Alliance in Firefly seem different to what they did in Serenity but that is likely due to production and budget issues; in Firefly the Alliance inafantry uniforms are obviously cast offs from Starship Troopers and the capital ships looked slightly stupid (tower blocks?). In Serenity on the other hand the Alliance troopers were in different and more sophisticated looking battle gear.

And the involvement of the omnipresent Blue Sun Corp. is not fully explained (they seemed to be genuinely evil).

This can partly be explained as the difference between the border patrol, and a crack federal team flown in from Washington D.C. There's also the ten year or so difference in time, which explains the schmucks on the border patrol getting the cast-off stuff that was top of the line a decade back.

A decade back... when the bugs were attacking and purple was the symbol of order. :) No gunships - they catch trains!
