Well, it's not a very impressive entrance to barge into a building as a walkman and a handgun, is it? The 50-foot robot crashing through the wall is a much more dramatic entrance.

Oh, me too. The problem is, Hot Rod has that sci-fi look.
Yeah, but it's not so much that a little tweaking should be able to cover any of that Sci-fi look.

You just reminded me of a Far Side strip where stagecoach drivers get held up by three bunnies wielding guns and one says to the other 'this isn't gonna look good on our resumes'.

Same scenario with a handgun and walkman -- I agree, the robots are better for drama.

Maybe they could make him a souped-up, cherried out and highly modified muscle car. That would fit his name.

Maybe, but Soundwave could infiltrate into places while in player mode and then suddenly transform and pop up as if from nowhere. That was used quite well in both the cartoon and comic several times. :)

Hell, Soundwave and Megatron got into the base with Torg III by stashing Megs in a guitar case...

By the way, Mike, most Transformers of Optimus, Megatron, and Soundwave's size are actually about 25 feet tall, not 50.

Yeah, they're big, but not that big... :)

Exactly, they can get away with Hot Rod, who is a cool character. Though I personally think they'd need Kup in there too then, and he'd have to definately be changed up.

Three things ...

(1) If they're not going to use mass conversion, what alternative mode are they going to give Soundwave and his mates? (Rumble, Ravage, Laserbeak, et al)

(2) Which Writer/Director would you like to tackle this?

(3) Would you like to see a mix of live action/CGI or totally CGI? (Final Fantasy)

Not necessarily. Ironhide could make a decent surrogate Kup.

Since it's already going to be a live action/CGI film, I don't think our choices would matter much. ;)

I wonder how they are going to treat someone getting hit, since he said they are going for realism, hope we see some transformers spark out.

Also for Megatron they should go the artillery or turret style mode of Galvatron, can make it a point to have Soundwave man him or something.

Yeah, I was about to say that would have too many gay undertones. :)

Leave that sort of thing to the GoBots. ;)

Stop living in the past, man. THye don't need to have characters do that anymore. Blame Hasbro (of Gig) for a bad choice enemies.
Boo! Soundwave is the Decepticon Communicator. What else can he turn into?
I always thought it would be cool for him to turn into a news van.
Boo! I blame the soccer moms.
Blame the police for shooting kids armed with toy guns. Blame Hasbro for never putting the appropriate orange barrel on toy guns.

Hoo-fucking-ray!!!! That shit never belonged in the first place, IMO.
I guess you're happy to hear that Grimlock is being reborn as a Ford Mustang.

What'd be funny if that one of the non-core characters of this movie was Jetfire and like his toy, he transforms into a Macross / Robotech Veritech fighter, complete with the RDF / UN Spacy emblems. :)

Now that will never happen.

Heck DW basically has remade Jetfire into his Skyfire format...though they did include most of VF-1S design in his *space* armor.

It would be worth it. Jetfire was clearly the coolest toy in the entire range.

Though they could get away with the 2002 Jetfire, as he's a Space Shuttle now, not a VF-1.

Which is a testament to the craftsmanship of the original Takatoku Kahen Henkei 1/55th scale toy. The old molds from which Jetfire was created a long gone. The Bandai re-issues are reconstructions and are not even completely accurate reproductions.

You're joking... right? They CANNOT turn Grimlock into a Mustang. I don't care how much the fans want him in the movie you CANNOT turn Grimlock into a Ford Mustang.   And what are they doing about the rest of the Dinobots? Oh I'm sorry, they won't be the Dinobots anymore.
