Some yes...but then again his height is both advantage and disadvantage.
Ever truly fight someone truly shorter than you...not just a foot but truly shorter...it can suck in a hard way, given how you have to repostion yourself.
Seriously the jumping was to show they could do quickie CGI

Given that Yoda is what...foot and a half.
Blocking that type is off balance, seriously.
I mean midgets is one thing...he's pretty much half that, and the jumping is pointless given how quickly from visualization he was able to move.

Yoda appears to be about two foot six. Incidentally, you guys miss Yoda and Obi-Wans obvious arrogance later in the scene. Obi-Wan demanded earlier that Anakin "do his duty," and Obi-Wan told him that if they could stop Dooku, they could "end this war right now." Later, Yoda is faced with a choice--he can go after Dooku, or save Anakin and Obi-Wan. He chooses to temporarily disregard the fate of the Galaxy and the Republic to save Obi-Wan and Anakin. One can argue that he was destined to do so--he was--but if we subscribe to such an idea, we must also believe that Yoda was ALWAYS destined to decide to save Anakin, instead of saving the Republic. He made a clearly anti-dmeocratic decision, which ends up destroying millions--possibly billions--of lives.

I noticed that the first time I saw the movie. My guess is simply that Dooku was too powerful, and Yoda knew it.Master of Ossus wrote:Yoda appears to be about two foot six. No, I think it was meant the way that I took it. It makes perfect sense, in conjunction with the rest of the movie. Look at the way that Queen Jamillia (sp?) of Naboo said, "The day we stop believing in democracy is the day we lose it." This is clearly meant to be connected with the rest of episodes II and III. Yoda's decidedly anti-democratic decision was yet another example of the arrogance demonstrated repeatedly by Jedi during the film (to the point of becoming a motif). Besides, Dooku seemed to be losing the duel, and Yoda should have easily been able to sabotage his spacecraft to the point where it could not make orbit, in which case Dooku clearly would have been captured or killed.pecker wrote:I noticed that the first time I saw the movie. Suffice to say - it was a combination of many things ...
But I suppoose there were two MAIN factors:
(1) the new unrecoverable depths that SW has fallen to
(2) the selfish and down-right rude antics of a few specific board-hoarders
number (2) I wont detail 'cause it just doesnt matter anymore, as I menioned above...
and :
number (1) I wont discuss in detail because I have seen all too frequently how fanboiz react when anyone threatens their religious icons in any way (eg: anyone DARING to ask if AoTC was less than the greatest thing since sliced bread in a public forum, usually leads to a 50-post flame war and people being banned from sites!).
So, suffice to say I have fallen to the DarkSide (no NOT trek!) and am no longer a SW fan. The toys & books are all packed away in boxes and may never see the light of day again. Anyhow, enuff of all that crap ... I just decided it was too much effort for no return - it stopped being an enjoyable hobby about 5 years ago. So I just plain stopped.
Sorry if I have caused you any offense - and I am sorry that the synicon discussion board died (that was at least partially accidental, and partially due to reason (2)) ...

I am now beyond all redemption, and will never now turn back from the DarkSide. It is too late for me, my children

Obi Wan and Anakin show this as well. When they first rushed into the hanger Obi Wan should have distracted or held off Dooku while Anakin carved up the ship. They didn't have to take him on head on to defeat him.Master of Ossus wrote:No, I think it was meant the way that I took it. It makes perfect sense, in conjunction with the rest of the movie. Random thought from the shower:
Maybe the Jedi being flambuoyant wasn't a bad thing. I thoguht of many factors. Hear me out.
Many Eastern melee weapons had colored flags on them. These were meant to distract and confuse the enemy. In the heat of battle, seeing a colorful object spinning in front of you is going to confuse you, giving the precious fractions of a second for your opponent to strike. Spinning a lightsaber would have the same effect. Organic soldiers would get a sudden, short shock/surprise, enough to offset aiming or give a Jedi time to strike. It could even be a type of slight hypnosis. Even when we watch the movies, we instinctivley are drawn to a lightsaber whenever it moves, if even for a moment. That's enough time to make someone dead.
Also, we have no idea what Droid targetting systems are based on. It could simply be visible light. However, assume for a moments it is movement and heat based. Spinning a lightsaber is going to create alot of displaced air (movement), and will likely heat up the air as it interacts with it, leaving a large heat signature somewhere right next to the Jedi. Now, a Droid may get confused as to which is the true threat. Or they may see the very hot, fast moving object as a greater threat than the relatively stationary Jedi. Many times in the arena, when a Jedi spins his/her saber, the droids stop dead, and many follow the saber with their heads.
More than once, a Jedi spins his saber once or twice, and it stops dead milliseconds before a blaster bolt hits it. It may be the Jedi are tricking the Droids into firing into a presetermined angle, so it will be deflected back and hit the Droid.
Just a thought.

Dooku is good. But I don't think he could handle dueling Obi Wan and having to take out Anakin. The droids on the other hand didn't seem to be doing much. I think Anakin could have cut something off or cut through the hull before they did something or activated the shields. Or just used the Force or something.pecker wrote:Nah, Dooku would have either zapped Anakin as he went for the ship, or the Droids would have taken off to circle around, or just activated the shields.

I liked some of his work but you get the clear impression that because the prequels don't live up to his pre-conceived notions of what they SHOULD be like he hates them- and obviously thinks that anyone who likes AOTC is a drone. Elitist wet blanket really.

Hmm...
In the first shot of igniting after Windu says "This party's over", four Jedi ignite. There is one green saber and three blue in this shot. The furthest from the camera, a female Twi'lek, has one of the stupider stances, with her legs crossed and the lightsaber away off to one side above her head.
The next shot consists of two Jedi, a blue and a green saber. One of these Jedi, another female alien (with green saber) draws and then holds the blade at arms length pointing inwards, while hunkering down some way so that it looks like she is trying to hold her pee or something.
The other, with the blue saber, (and yet another alien female), makes a questionable stabbing motion. Still, it's not as bad as the preceeding two.
The next scene has two jedi, blue and green sabre. The green saber weilder, a male alien with a mass of tentacles coming off the back of his head, lights up facing forward and then swings around to the left and... stands there. WTF?
After this, the next shot has a Zabrak male (Darth Maul's species) with a green saber apparently practicing his ballet dancing. Further away, a possibly human female dressed like Darth Sidious waves a blue saber about.
The final shot has Coleman Trebor (the jedi Jango kills) wheel a full 180 before actually taking his (green) saber out and igniting it. Behind him, a human, asian female, draws her (green) saber vertically over her head, apparantly from a Blade-style stowage position on her back, and then sticks her left hand out to the side in a "force push" motion, though why is unclear. (A low "force telekinesis" rumble sounds on the soundtrack at this point, so she may infact be executing a force push, making the action less daft.)
