Why did they change John Connor's actor in T3?

Out of intrest, if the origional timeline was kept (Judgement Day in 1997) then John Connor would be 13 years old at the most (Sarah wasn't pregnent in some part of 1984). That would mean he probably wouldn't be in his 20's (assuming human resistance didn't take 7 years to start) when he took command! Would you take orders from some inexperinced "kid" if you were some milatary type who survived JD?

I actually have the T2 novelisation in my collection. Not only did that go banc and get the T-800's arm but the book's epilogue shows John Connor as a Senator with the mission of trying to prevent the human mistakes that caused Skynet to be built. Unless Cameron is a moron they'll have to show Skynet sending a fedex package full of spare parts to some computer corp.

Furlong sucked in T2(too much whining and I hate his screechy/nasal voice) so I was glad to see him be replaced for T3, besides the new guy looks more like the older Connor from the first movie.

Actually, it did take a while to start. Reese's breif hostory sure seems to indicate that Skynet took time actually conquer all of humanity after Judgement Day. It was during this time the Resistance was born and in this where John became the leader of the Resistance.
