Frank, I'm sorry to hear this. Best of luck to you and your family.
A Government founded upon justice, and recognizing the equal rights of all men; claiming higher authority for existence, or sanction for its laws, that nature, reason, and the regularly ascertained will of the people; steadily refusing to put its sword and purse in the service of any religious creed or family is a standing offense to most of the Governments of the world, and to some narrow and bigoted people among ourselves.

Sorry to hear this, Frank. Hard to lose a parent. Stay strong.
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."
In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!
If all you want to do is have some harmless, mindless fun, go H3RE INST3ADZ0RZ!!
Grrr! Fight my Brute, you pansy!

Re: Rest in Peace, Mom...
I'm deeply sorry for the loss of your mother, Frank, and can only hope that the knowledge that her suffering is over is of some degree of small consolation.

I wish there was some words of comfort that I could give you to make it all better. Losing someone you know is never easy and it's something of an unpleasant truth that the only real cure for a loss of that sort is time.

I am very sorry for your loss.
I understand you & your family's pain. I lost my father over 5 years ago. All I can say, things will get better. It may not seem that way, but they will. Be with your family and friends, remember those happy & funny moments they will help.

My condolences.
El Moose Monstero: That would be the winning song at Eurovision. I still say the Moldovans were more fun. And that one about the Apricot Tree.
That said...it is growing on me.

Re: Rest in Peace, Mom...
Thanks, everybody.
The funeral was this past Saturday, and it went about as well as such things go, I suppose. Everyone said I did well in the choice of clothing to lay her out in, the Methodist minister did an OK job, even if he did falter on some names and trivia from time to time in his sermon...the flowers were of excellent quality, if not overly abundant in quantity.
We had my dad's ashes interred with her, and the gravesite is reasonably nice. It's in the same section as a lot of dad's family; in addition it's a cemetery on the National Register of Historic Places.
The fucked up thing is that I'll never be able to tell either of them about it, seeing as how it was their wishes that were foremost in my mind...grief's a motherfucker.
Now, one further thing:
Ryan Crierie, our own MKShepard, has obtained HERO status.
Since mom's stroke, and especially since mom's confinement to a nursing home last March, I've been wretchedly, horribly depressed, and living the hoarder lifestyle...I just didn't give a flying fuck through a rolling donut anymore.
He shows up last thursday on my front porch to kick my ass into gear on cleaning the shithole I live in, he acted as a pallbearer at the funeral because we were one short (most of the family's gone), not to mention he got Red Baron 3D working on the new computer.
All that and performance of a myriad of the little things that don't just mean a lot, but everything, at a time like this.
Ryan, you're my best friend and have been for years even before this; just thought you should know.
