He is? How do you know? What did he say?
I posted a copy of his rantings once on the board but I don't have the link handy. Anyway, he was ranting about how the Iraq War was authorized by the UN (*cough*bullshit) and supported by "our allies of consequence" (interesting choice of words), and about how the rest of the world should be more grateful to America for protecting the rest of us, because we're all pussies.

I like how he says America has broken no "laws of consequence" in its so-called "war on terror". I guess he figures he can just use the "of consequence" clause to say anything he wants.

Republitards. I'll bet you he used the "homicide bomber" term too, back when it was fashionable among the fascist wannabes.

Various things over the years. His statements on politics are just as insane as those of the vs debate. For example:-
US soldiers sent abroad, numbering in the many tens of thousands, unfortunately include a handful of criminal decidedly impolite person(s), lefty plants, and other assorted undesirables. Therefore a handful of terrible events have occurred, such as Abu Gharaib, the rapist, and the murderer.

That's funny... I didn't think RSA had any views on anything other than SW v. ST. And I use the term "view" lightly.

For the longest time, he didn't express any. But now that he has, we can see that he approaches politics exactly the same way he approaches sci-fi.

"no laws of consequence" ... that's almost a perfect snapshot of what's wrong with RSA's brain.

To make things worse, in his mind, he almost certainly sees his consistency as a strength, even if its consistently bad.

Wow, I haven't seen that whole thread before. That's just creepy. He's like Hugh Hewitt on crack. He even calls the intelligence services which were proven correct "lefty".

Holy crap; talk about someone getting their ass roasted. Check out the aftermath after Victor1st said he got a death threat call in the links below. Apparently, he said "Mac" was named as an accomplice of this person, who Victor1st had arrested all the way from Scotland!

Is there some law written down somewhere that says Trektards must be lying paranoid nutjobs?

I bet it's subliminally implanted in the opening credits of each episode. But your brain has to see it multiple times in order for it to make any sense, so that's why it only affects fanatics.

Its probably that the pomposity of the show gives these nutjobs a sense of their own importance. Makes them feel like a part of something; something big and important. Star Trek is the future. Its utopia. And they're part of the great movement towards that goal.

And as is often the case with mob mentality comes a severe distrust of outsiders.

Is that true? Can you really not weld duranium?

Also isn't that basically what the Connie's design is? A Saucer, fitted to a tube, propelled by two giant engines connected by two spindly little connectors that look like they'd snap off in any type of real combat?

1. Since when has Star Trek been consitant with science?

2. Wasn't the Enterprise kind of always like that?

I have no idea who JJ Abrams character is. What's the general reaction to him directing this movie?
