They are concerned that advocating for breastfeeding is an inappropriate judgment of women who do not breastfeed.
Fuck them. You're free to refuse breastfeeding, much as you're free to stuff yourself with fatty foods or smoke, but don't act offended when people inform you (in an extremely inoffensive and not obnoxious way, no less) that your choice is a poor one.

Remember, folks: advocating anything is wrong because it is an "inappropriate judgment" of anyone who doesn't do it. Therefore, anything you can advocate ... should be illegal!

So the local police are actually allowed to fine or arrest you for breast feeding in public? My fucking god that is ass backwards, if that is the case than the State should at least have the decency to force public buildings to include breast feeding rooms with their bathroom facilities like malls in Canada do.
Not only that but women in Ontario can legally walk around topless. So one could guess that they could breastfeed anywhere.

Yeah I know I live in Ontario. You can breastfeed in public with no hassle from the authorities barring the odd ignorant look from a passing elderly couple. My wife did it with both our children.

That's the problem with democracy, you have law makers who a)don't understand how law works b) don't understand the laws they make
May you live in interesting times.

This is why representatives should either have a lawyer with them at all times or be lawyers themselves.

Regarding your complaint, Cairber, it could be solved if the electorate could easily fire their representative faster than have an uncoordinated opportunity to do so every four years. The way the system is set up, it's not the people in power, but the individuals who can most easily mollify the people in power. If you actually had a representative democratic system, you'd be able to take your complaint to the people she represents (the citizens, in other words) at the next scheduled representative-electorate meeting, and they'd fire her on the spot and replace her with a (hopefully) more competent person. (Under such a system, the various decisions would be made by the citizens in the meeting, and the decisions would be relayed to the State Senate/House/whatever by the representative... make for a better democracy... blah blah blah... etc.)

Yeah, I've given this problem a lot of thought.
