Yeah, rich people live by different rules. They actually get brownie points for pretending that laws apply to them.
After she had started a petition to be pardoned, at that.

23 days, well well. Quite the ordeal.

Does anyone else think that "good behavior" is being used as a euphamism for sexual favors?

Regarding the showing up for court... No, assholes, that's called doing what you're legally supposed to do. Your reward for showing up is that you don't get fucked even worse.

If I am caught for the same offences as Paris and behave good will I get my sentence cut in half as well ? Or do I need to have a billionaire family to qualify for that ?
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.

How can you get time off for good behaviour before you've even gone to jail?

What's more ridiculous is that her actual offense is essentially a contempt of court (violation of probation, not drunk driving). It's the very definition of "bad behavior" with respect to the court system.

Rich criminals should really be made to suffer with their non-essential property and possessions permanently taken away and their fortune cut down by three quarters, but of course they would still be better off than most people... :wanker:

Personally, I'd agree with you 100% on her behavior and I hardly consider the bare fucking minimum in of in court decourum to be true good behavior. And further more, I think any 'lesson' she might learn won't have an affect beyond inconveniencing her party-slut lifestyle.

But it really isn't that uncommon for traffic offenses like what she's committed and which people haven't gotten hurt to be reduced in such a manner. Too many people get away with this, and not just the rich, because non-injuring traffic offenses just don't register like they should.

You know, I'm all for punishment of the Rich, but does anyone think that if Paris spent time in general-population in jail that she WOULDN'T be unfairly targeted? That she wouldn't be hurt, extorted, threatened, and assaulted (all kinds of assaulted) to a far greater extent than a normal person?

I think she should be punished, yes, but I can understand why she's getting some exceptions- its for her safety.

Ordinary people get hurt, threatened and assaulted in jail every day. Why should Paris be spared that experience? And why do you think she is more endangered in jail than an ordinary person? Do you know that rich/powerful people in jail generally are less under threat - due to their ability to retaliate on the inmates using their connections from "outer world" - than nameless goons who can be brutalized easily by anyone?

If Paris Hilton got shanked in jail, I'd be about as happy as I was when I found out that Farwell had croaked.

And that protection comes out of threats of violence and eventual extortion against them. She'd be a meal-ticket for everyone inside, and you can't tell me that a billionaire heiress in jail wouldn't be a dangerous or disruptive influence.

She's going to jail, not prison... there's a pretty significant between inmates in a county or city jail and those in a state or federal prison, primarily in that jail inmates tend to be non-violent offenders there for less than a year. That's not to say jails are not dangerous, but incidences of assault, rape, or murder are much higher in prisons than they are in jail, mostly because the inmates in prisons are much nastier people than those in jail.

Which, much as I am loathe to support her in any way even obliquely, doesn't answer the question. Would a billionaire heiress in general populaiton be a dangerous and disruptive influence? The answer is, has been, and will always be yes regarldess of whetehr it is jail or prison she WILL be targeted because of who she is and it WILL cause problmes if she is left in GenPop. Even the facility they are looking to put her in has already had threats running around it and her setup there is, if not solitary then, minimalist. Basically she still has, all else aside, the right to expect some protection from the system. Throwing her in GenPop when there are KNOWN threats against her is bordering on negligence. Take any inmate and if there is a known threat against them then leaving them would be considered wrong so the same should apply to Hilton much as I think she could do with being turned into some bull-dyke's bitch.
