I think we should. Perhaps DarkStar should be dubbed, "Sir Talksalot" or simply moron, or DumbShit, or something similar. I don't think Trek Representative should be named anything worse than VI, though. I think that the worse title should be reserved for repeat-offenders like DarkStar. You should have to earn that title on several threads.

Fair enough. Here's one for you. In ST:I, the E-E fires off a quantum torpedo and misses. This is usually taken as badtargeting. However, torpedoes are homing weapons. It should have tracked and hit the ship anyways. The fact that it didn't shows that ECM was being used by the So'noa.

I just watched Wrath of Khan. The Reliant fired aft torps at the Enterprise inside the Mutara nebula (sensor blind environment) and missed. The torp just went straight past, didn't manoeuvre at all.

It does seem like a good indication that ST torpedoes would be useless against Imperial jammers. Food for thought..

Except WoK specifically says targeting ans shileds won't work in that nebula. Good try though.

Better than a good try. You see, it proves that the torps are useless if you disrupt their sensors. And if a common nebula can do it..

Worth to notice is that the Enterprise had no trouble hitting the Reliant with both phasers and torps. Either Scotty made a workaround off-screen or Kirk maneouvered to where he could acquire a target lock before firing. Or it was just the Kirk's character shields powering the weapons

Actually, I don't recall the details of that part, I was very tired when I watched it.

Okay I read up to page five, so I don't know all of the developments, however I have one bone to pick with you.... I suspect that you have chosen to delibrately limit Star Wars to the movies only, simply because it doesn't suffer Star Trek's pathetic dialogue of treknobable, thus reducing everything that Warsies throw at you to speculations at best.

I am sorry if this is a bit rude, but really. You are essentially making us do all the work to prove to you the weapons calcs and shield calcs, only to have you say; But that's not cannon!

Well let me say this, just because Trek uses a lot of technical numbers in it's dialogue, it doesn't mean jack okay!

Here is canon;

• Incredible range and speed for Star Wars FTL travel.
• A true galactic civilasation.
• Instant, real time communication over vast distances.
• Industrial and resource base that cannot even be fantasised by any Trek race.
• A standing army that would outnumber the enire Federation population!

All those cannon facts pretty much screw Star Trek. Accept and deal.

I do not wish to start a firefight. All I would like is for a mannerly discussion to take place as the title of this forum suggests. Again, any insight (or even little quirks about anything) can be listed off in any order, and I will try to explain them, and again I hope the opposite to occur as well. I am only one man, but I will try to explain as much as possible.

Translation: so, even though this is what I said the first time, and I got exactly what I asked for from Master of Ossus and DGG and others, in the form of rational, well-thought out reasons why ST would lose--that anyone with any thermo or military background whatsoever would agree with--I'll just ignore them and say the exact same thing I said before. I would like to partake in a serious debate of ST vs SW; no slamming, bashing, flaming, or cursing. Intelligent and rational posts only; no "this is right cause it's my opinion". I've seen that on a lot of boards. Canon facts only. No novels, tech manuals (maybe to a limited extent) or assumptions of any kind. Any claim should be thoroughly backed by evidence. I know, that sounds stupid, but just try to argue your case using relevant facts and information we have available to us in this century.
