IF GhostRider did this just to drop off the grid, when he gets back on I'm going to pin his ears back and Gibbs-slap him for making us all worry about him for so long.

Some times people do just drop off the face of the planet. I have a friend from Alaska who was tired of his parents interfering with his life. Him living inTexas and his parents being in Alaska shows his decision wasn't entirely rationale. He stayed off the grid for almost a decade before a near death medical experience reminded him of the importance of family.

I feel depressed just thinking that this is the best possibility we have to choose from now...

I'm a newcomer to the forums and I don't think I've ever actually spoken to GR directly, but for what it's worth, I can't honestly see him bailing on you guys voluntarily. The fact you've gone to this much trouble for someone that not all of you have actually met in person is proof enough of that.

I wish I could do much of anything to help, though with your permission I'll be glad to repost the request for assistance on every forum I'm a member of.

Well...frankly, I am of the opinion that none of us save those who knew GR personally are qualified to make these sorts of judgements on his character: you had no idea what was going on in his private life. He may have just decided to go *POOF* and disappear because of a great many things, from conflict with family down to eloping with a secret rich lover ;)

Anyway, it's just as likely he was mugged and murdered during the new year's eve celebration and they just didn't find the body yet. I am really hoping that's not what actually happened, because it would suck, but rationally it's a possibility. They'd have found him by now if he was just in a hospital unconscious or something...

As horrible as this may be if true, it's the not knowing either way which must only be added stress to his family and friends. Some of those statistics about unresolved cases are quite disheartening.

Just had an idea: might there be a way to telephone different places around and discover if anyone has seen this guy? We'd need 10-20 people on the ground in NYC, but people from basically anywhere who are willing to telephone might be able to simply telephone area hotels, hospitals, homeless shelters, etc. ... Skype costs USD$3.00 to be able to call North America within North America (this includes Canada).

The hotel is also right in the middle of the UN consulate central, so we might want to see if they're willing to take a look at a faxed or emailed photo (the PDF file). If anyone has a "hit" on the identity, we simply post it here and correlate any solid info back to the police officer.

I don't know GR (I'm literally brand new here, and this was my first post), but if we're going to locate him, I think it would be best to canvass Manhattan Island with a telephone, email, and fax campaign. I'm down for the phone and email, but I don't have access to a fax.

Just an idea, wondering if it might be improved upon, or if it's even feasible.

I agree with the guy with the hood. But we have to make sure it doesn't turn into an email pyramid scheme, because every sensible person hates email pyramid scheme makers.

It's been over a month. Any leads that the police haven't covered are probably cold and stale, quite frankly.

Better cold and stale than nonexistent... and if we're talking the NYPD, they often get tasked with covering an entire city with far fewer sets of eyes.

Ever watch "Cold Case"?

I think you're only a heartless bastard if you're not hoping for the best while saying the above. Acknowledging a rational possibility of something terrible happening is not exactly heartless: I really, really hope it turns out GR just wanted to disappear or had memory loss or got arrested without ID and is now stuck in a deportation cell or something.

Of course if he wanted to disappear, we're not going to learn about this, since him coming online would mean he...didn't disappear.

I think it's best to let the people who actually know him in person handle it. Otherwise you're going to wind up getting a lot of "Yeah, who wants to know? Why should I tell you?"

Out of interest, does anyone know when it stopped saying when Ghost Rider last visited the site. I'm sure someone has checked already, but I just wondered...

The only idea I've got left at the moment is to try to get the media involved by broadcasting GR's pic and any relevant info to the public. Possibly get a fundraiser going and use the money as a reward for the location of GR?

A long shot but it could help.

How you say it determines if you're an asshole or not.

Let's be real here - all of us were thinking the "unthinkable" from the moment he was reported as missing. It's the elephant in the room.

Can I bring up another point? New York has had some extreme weather this year. It is possible that no foul play is involved, he might have done something as mundane as slipped on an icy sidewalk, hit his head on the way down, and froze to death while unconscious as snow slowly covered him in one of this winter's storms. It happens. Every couple of years in Chicago some New Year's reveler falls off Navy Pier during the big party and isn't found until May. What happens in spring is that Lake Michigan unfreezes and they wash up on the beach in Gary, Indiana. No foul play, just a sad, tragic accident. Is that better or worse than getting mugged/murdered? I don't know.

At this point, for his family's and friend's sake, I'd like his fate to be known. Well, OK, I'd like him turn up safe and sound and healthy but if that can't happen then I'd like what happened to be known, whatever the truth might be.

Now I did a job. I got nothing but trouble since I did it, not to mention more than a few unkind words as regard to my character so let me make this abundantly clear. I do the job. And then I get paid.- Malcolm Reynolds, Captain of Serenity, which sums up my feelings regarding the lawsuit discussed here.

This is the most practical and best suggestion I have seen in this thread. GR was prominent in a website frequented by thousands of people from all walks of life. We have members, big and small in terms of influence and connection. If we all got togather maybe we can bring the media's focus on this.

Disclaimer : Needless to say I am merely throwing out an idea, it is upto GR's family and loved ones to decide. There are good reasons as to why they may not want media exposure.
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.
