Finnish meet '11?

Hi,

it's been a while since the last "official" SDNet Finnish meet and I wanted to see if anyone would be interested in at having another round at it. How many of our members who are in Finland (not only Finns need to apply) might be interested and when such a meet could be held?

Let's see who decides to participate first. But Helsinki is usually a good place to meet, since it's in the middle of everything and people are friendly and the watchful eye of the King isn't as intefering as in the west.

I moved to Helsinki from Sweden two months ago. I will join if it is close to here and my schedule allows it.

It would appear that at least five people would like to attend. When will we meet and where (most likely Helsinki)? End of November/start of December? My weekends are all open at that point of time and should we meet on a working day I can leave 4 pm from my work.

For me, December 9th (Friday) is out and so is 25th of November (Friday). For anything else, I don't have my work lists that far yet and I may have evening shifts. Those are the only restrictions I know of right now.

Would love to have the Helsinki meet in Sydney, but unfortunately I don't have that kind of cash on hand...

How about December 10th? It's a Saturday and we could blow our tax returns on booze and hookers... I mean.. celebrate in moderation. I'm basically free except for 26-27th of November but it's one or the other. Helsinki is the city of choice as I believe everyone can get there without any difficulty. And it's hot enough in Sydney to boil a monkey's bum which is a strange expression and good enough reason to not go there.

Sounds fine by me. Kompassi might indeed be a good place. I recognize some of our members, so at least some of us will find each other.

Kompassi is good. I should be able to recognize at least Tiriol, and Lord Revan certainly if he shows up.

Been hanging around here for ages and noted the previous Finnish meet threads, but what with the short attention span and lack of free time for anything, I've never been able to attend. December 10th eh? I live near Tampere but I might be able to tag along. I just wont recognize any of you fine gentlemen

Edit: I'm sorry I thought I could figure out where Kompassi was, but my google fu is weak. Seems there are many places called Kompassi and I don't know if any of the ones I found is the one to meet at.

Well I'm pretty sure I can tell Tiriol's ugly mug from the mundanes passing through. The Kompassi we are referring to is the one at Central Railway station Metro entrance. I also have Tiriol's phone number unless he has changed it since last meet.

Why not, my phone number hasn't changed, so if someone has it from our previous meets, it's still usable.

I propose the following: All who wish to attend our meet at Kompassi in Helsinki on the 10th of December at 17:00. PM Tiriol and get his phone number, or alternatively if Tiriol for some reason is unable to attend. PM me for my number and I'll take over as the go to man to get our merry bunch together. If 17:00 causes difficulties to those who are coming further away speak up now and we'll set a new time.

Whee! Turns out I have work from 9 to 17 and given that situation and all the various pikkujoulu events I've had to attend and all the evening shifts I've had recently, I have to pass on this meet. Sorry, guys.
