Something similar happened to my aunt some years ago...she was the one who found my grandmother.

We had the service today. It was one of the more unpleasant things I have had to do. When I got to the church steps, I just stopped cold the moment I saw a picture of my dad. I stood their for a while. I was late getting to the service and everyone was waiting for me. I just didn't care. The service was nice. The god stuff didn't mean much for me, but I appreciated the good intentions. The pastor was a favorite of my parents and it seemed fitting. But after the service was over, I didn't care much to be in any crowds. But there were a few people there that I hadn't expected and it meant the world to me that they had come to the service. So I spent most of the time talking with them. Towards the end I took my nieces and nephew (whom I met for the first time the day before) outside and let them play while I was killing time waiting to leave.

After I got home I borrowed the kids from my sister and took them to the river just to let them have fun. I had no desire to be around any crowd, so it was a nice relaxing two hours just letting them have fun in the water. Since the kids are from Alaska, they aren't used to hot weather and rivers warm enough to play in.

I'm sorry for your father's passing; may you and your family all be blessed, Alyeska.

I'm taking care of my dying grandfather now, so there will come a time soon where I might be making a similar post.
