There was a DIlbert comic strip about a pilot that crashed planes into a mouintain and ate the survivors.

Sort of off topic but I am curious for other peoples input. In my limited experience most cultures who practice cannibalism use it as a gesture of respect for the person they are eating i.e eating the heart of a valiant warrior to impart courage or eating a dead relative to ingest part of their soul etcetera etc but western society has a history of demonising the act portraying people who do it as barbaric and evil. Is there anyone out there who can give me any insight into the realities of it? You don't need to have eaten anyone just share your beliefs or better yet statistics!!
