Optimus Prime 2007 Robot Mode, leaked bits

Lookin' Good

Most people seem to be very entusiastic to these clipped pics and I am too. I've got high hopes for Megs and 'Screamer now too.

While they certainly look professional I'm not thrilled. Prime's head should not be changed, or changed as little as absolutely possible.

flames on his arms! !

blasphemy

are they trying to make him into a joint Optimus/Hot Rod character?

I'm still cut up about the decision not to include Sound Wave

I think it's best they avoid the mass changing. Soundwave just wouldn't work, to say nothing of the fact that his disguise form is somewhat dated.

You're right though, flames on his arms are pushing it. I still believe going with a slightly updated version of the original would have been their best bet.

I don't like the flames.

Otherwise, it looks decent.

Uts should be rather happy, since it means they won't be all skeletal gears, pistons, and framework: rather they'll actually have some solidness and mass to them.

Blasphemy. They could just give him a new form or simply not show him changing. Soundwave is a neccesary foil for Starscream.

The comics proved that Starscream doesn't need any one Decepticon to act as a counterpoint for his treachery.

You know, I've been thinking, and I'm now of the opinon that trying to judge this movie's quality solely on how close its elements are to Generation 1 is doing it a huge disservice.

I mean, so what if Optimus Prime is a long-nosed cab? He's a truck, and a big one at that. I'm more concerned about the character they give this version of him than what he looks like, or even who voices him(I consider the casting of Cullen to be a hell of a bonus, not an intregal part).

Optimus Primal and the RiD and Unicron Trilogy versions of Prime have all had their differences from the original, in varying ways. But more importantly, they all had the same qualities of integrity, courage, and leadership that has marked Optimus Prime, in any incarnation, as one of the greatest transformers of all(No matter how bad the scripts).

Interesting design, but Optimus' upper arm should have armor to protect the servo-motors there. It would be stupid to leave such crucial mechanical components exposed, even for aesthetic reasons.
Please do not make Americans fight giant monsters.

Those gun nuts do not understand the meaning of "overkill," and will simply use weapon after weapon of mass destruction (WMD) until the monster is dead, or until they run out of weapons.

They have more WMD than there are monsters for us to fight. (More insanity here.)

It looks to me as though the panel sticking out on the top of the upper arm folds down over that part, and it's up (probably moves when transforming) merely to showcase inner detail.

That Prime head preserves the key features sure but it modifies them. The side vents have been incorporated into the head, smoothly and the central top vent seems to have been pulled up to resemble the top of a space marine helmet. Prime's 'mask' now looks integrated into his face as well, making me wonder if it will move when he talks. The antenna are there, though there appears to be a second set. For me it's little different than if they cast an actor with a weak chin and jawline to play Superman. Sure he's got al the right colours and has all the features but it just wouldn't be right. At least that's my aesthetic opinion, yours may vary.

You are of course right. I'd be far more disappointed if he's not Prime, rather than not looking like Prime. I'm just hoping they'll nail both aspects of him. If he is Prime though, I suspect I won't care what he looks like.

Looks pretty good. Not a fan at all of the "parts showing" style, but at least they seem to be covering some of it up. Does anyone else have the eyes missing in their picture? Or did mine just load up really weird? If it's supposed to be like that why would they do that?

Just make Soundwave a great big entertainment center with integrated shelving and enormous speakers. Works for me.

Oh, and supposedly they're gonna be releasing the official name list in like ten minutes.

Just make Soundwave transform into a big festival speaker stack. THat should be about the right size.

I understand the Autobot picks, but many of the Decepticons are practially unknowns or just WTF picks.

Ostensibly, Hasbro wanted new characters, hence Barricade and Blackout. Frenzy used to be Soundwave, but as Hasbro insisted on there being a boombox TF and the writers decided that there would be no mass shifting, they decided to name it Frenzy so it wouldnt be a midget. One of the writers actually had the best argument against mass shifting I had ever heard: If it's such a good disguise, why wouldn't more Tfs use it?

Scorponok is a small scorpion that Blackout drops to finish off a group of survivors from a US military base he has just leveled. Blackout is an M-53 Pave Low, and due to his size, is used to transport smaller DEcepticons who can't fly. Those things are fucking huge- he could easily carry two of the smaller Cons.
