shivans make a wrong turn

Post by starfury »

the shivan fleet of freespace 2 makes a wrong turn and instead of attacking the GTVA insteads move into the Apha quadrant, can they succeed where the dominion failed, and at least exterminate one of the AQ's major powers.

I would love to see the SJ Sathanas slash it's way through federation fleets, escorted by ravana destoryers which are like smaller versions of it.

If this includes the massive fleet of Sathanii at the end of the game... Sol's off the charts. Somewhat permanently. :D
Gotta love a supernova fleet.

The Fed fleet can easily escape the nova with no problem. But people who might live on the small rocks called planets will not survive. But Federation can deploy a similar weapon used in TNG when they tried to revive a star but they destroyed it instead. If they used the same tactic against the Shivans then they will loose a lot of ships. If the Feds could add more matter and anti matter into their torpedoes making them 100x more powerful then the Shivans could loose a lot of ships there too. The Fed fleet has shown it can outmanuver the Shivans with ease. Their bombers moves so slow and can with ease be intercepted by phasers. The Feds outrange their weapons.

If the Shivans are ever able to get into weapons range, they will rip the Star Trek vessels to pieces with their multi-gigaton beam weapons.

Unfortunately, from all in game indications, their fastest fighters have a maximum (afterburners) acceleration of less than 150 m/s/s. That's if we disregard the 'top speed' setting as a mere game mechanism. Their beam weapons have never been used at a range of more than a few dozen kilometers. The Feds can keep their distance and hammer the Shivans with torpedoes, or outflank their Sathanas and Ravana to hit from behind, where they have no big guns.

Plus the range of the Shivan fleets makes the Feds look like master sniper marksmen with those phasers.
